Wanted Wednesday ~ Sessions from the Vault
Please rise, for the singing of our national anthem...
Here's one reaching way back. It's off the "Sessions from the Vault" bootleg CD set; I think this is on disc 3. This disc has the legendary Basement Sessions where Jon and Richie were holed up in the Sambora family basement to write songs for the then upcoming album, Slippery When Wet.
This is an extremely raw track which helps make it fabulous.
Can't you see them in a dark, basement bedroom in their ripped jeans, t-shirts and tennies, hair all messed up because it's way too early in the day to be vertical?
They're sitting, Richie on the edge of the bed, Jon on the chair he pulled over from the particle-board desk in the corner; an old Casio tape-recorder between them on a cigarette-scarred coffee table. C'mon, I know you can see it.
If you like young "Puppy Jovi"; acoustic, raw, unpolished -- you'll love this.
You can download this track here.
And because I'm feeling generous in my old age, here's a second and third track from the Sessions set.
Track #2 (download here) is a rehearsal of the song before laying down the production demos to take into the studio with the producer. Still raw, just Jon and Richie and their guitars. A little less raw, but no less delicious.
Track #3 (download here) is the polished studio demo that the Jersey Boys (whole band) took with them to the studio to begin recording with their producer. It's different from the final version and fun to listen to with decent audio quality.

I wish they had released this one on the album instead because I like this better. It's more eeary and more haunting. I like this one so much better, the only thing I didn't like was Richie's solo. It could have had more power to it. It sounded a little to melodic.
