Mr. Hath Doesn't Hate Bon Jovi
I know.
I didn't believe it either :)
He gives me all sorts of grief all the time about my little obsession with all news/music/swag Bon Jovi (though that didn't stop me from hanging above my nightstand a gorgeous painting of Richie that my friend J sent me for Christmas).
Over the past few days, I've been sharing little snippets of stories from the four shows I went to last week:
- Jon having to call Tico back before he ran off the end of the circle (arc) at Mohegan because it didn't extend all the way back to the stage
- Richie chewing gum the whole time, and us being amazed that he didn't (a) choke on it or (b) spit it into Jon's face when they were sharing the mic
- Richie's guitar switch mishap
- Jon "yelling" at the crowd for coming in too early on Wanted
- Getting to hear my most favorite song ever (Never Say Goodbye)
He quickly replied (yes, quickly), "I don't hate them. I like their music, just not as much as you."
What?
Did the pod people come and switch out my Mr. Hath for one more tolerant?
Maybe part of it is that he spent some time with my "Bon Jovi Friends" and saw they were normal women.
Maybe part of it is that he's been -- erm -- "reaping the benefits" of my time spent in Joviland last week.
Maybe he's coming around :)
Maybe hell just froze over.
I'll keep an eye out for the flying pigs.

LOL!!!! Hath, they eventually come around. I noticed the Hubby said in the car the other day that he preferred Richie's version of TD to Jon's!!! I was shell shocked to say the least.
well I'm glad your hubby came around... sadly mine will never...after going to Philly Wednesday he asked me if I would now officially grow up and isn't 5 times seeing them in concert enough for me now? (5 times since 1989 mind you). I wish he would be better about it, but that's just a pipe dream *sigh*
Man, I hope I find a husband one day that shares my love of Bon Jovi as well! But Richie's guitar switch mishap? What happened there? Care to share?(If not, that's ok, too)
@Rachel, it's amazing how often our men surprise us, no? lol
@Vicki, mine still wants to know why I have to go to three more shows this tour, when I've already seen 4 of "the same damned thing". So, he's coming around slowly, but the admission is the first step :)
@JoviGoo, it's no state secret lol. At Mohegan, the switch on one of Richie's guitars (the one that switches from lead to solo) didn't work; and we got "dead air" for a second. Jon gave him a look and a half :) It was very brief, and if my brother didn't play guitar, I wouldn't have noticed him fiddling with the switch. BigAppleJoviGirl saw two mishaps with the same guitar (I think), but she had way better seats than I did :)
I'll send you some long-distance Hubby Karma to help the transition along.... I'm lucky that my Hub is very tolerant and understanding of my Jovi-affliction. Of course, he gets it that Jovi and I are a package deal; they've been in my life longer than he has, lol! He actually calls himself a "fan" of Richie's and even asks what Richie's solo song was for each show. He thinks Lost Highway album BJ has ever done... okay, so he has a ways to go in his Jovi-cation, but he's trying. And now that he's met Joviswillow, he's come to realize that I'm not some sort of a mutant crazy person... we're everywhere.
And no, it REALLY doesn't hurt that he reaps the benefits. More often than usual during the tour cycle. Hee Hee. :P
Maybe he's just finally submitted to the brainwashing... MUAH HA HA HA HA.... >:)
May Mr. Hath's evolution continue full steam ahead...
Oh! Ha, I thought you had meant something happened when he switched guitars during a song, like for Wanted, or between songs, not a switch on the guitar itself... lol :)
Very funny about Mr. Hath listening to your stories. My kids cannot even stand my obsession-they don't want to hear my Bon Jovi stories-that's what my friends are for. Remember Sat. night when they were ready to start Wanted and Richie did not have a guitar? The tech guy was too slow bringing him his guitar. Jon was ready to start the song-he looked at Richie and Richie just shrugged his shoulders and was looking around for his guitar. Then the tech guy finally brought his guitar out to him.
Bonnie
@Hath....he definitely surprised me with that one.
@Catte....My hubby knew about my jovi obsession before we were married, so he knew what he was getting into....although its gotten a lot worse this tour!
And the hubby laughs that our 18 month old loooooves BJ!!! He just shakes his head and says shes my daughter for sure!
I guess it´s time for Mr.Hath to drink some beers with my better half LMAO! He needs some lessons in how to deal with a Richie girl ;)
Nahh, just kidding it´s not that worse, just sometimes he forgets that HE gets the benefits LOL
And I love your little tidbits, so please tell him we´re all addicted to your updates ;)
Awww and I hope my pic didn´t cause some trouble xxx
Oh, It's nice to know that I'm not alone being married to an "anti-Jovi" man.... there has been so much "eye rolling" in my house over the past week since the two Philly shows I went too.... The fact that I got to touch Jon two times at one of the shows did not impress my hubby or kids in the least! I'm hoping to tell the mailman tomorrow... maybe he'll be happy for me!!!!
I think Hell may have frozen over. And well, we don't want our bacon to start flying over either. I think they'd rather snap off a tooth than fess up to liking Jovi sometimes.
But seriously--just one concert and you'd be won over. No one does it live like Jovi. Even on an OFF night they're about 23975 times better than the average band out there.
It was nice of him to choke out that he didn't hate them tho. ;)Now if he'd just let you go to MORE shows, then we'd be in business!
I'm not 100% sure it was a problem with the switch, I think it was the volume control (as I have a single-neck version of that guitar)~ I think all that he did was not turn it enough for us to hear sound? It's an easy mistake :)
