Soul Dinner Called Off?
So a little birdie told me that there was a posting over on Backstage about the Soul dinner -- the $1000 USD a plate dinner that people have been planning to go to since JULY -- the dinner for which people from as close as NYC and as far away as AUSTRALIA have already bought tickets, made travel plans, and hotel accommodations -- has been canceled.
Now, I'm not a member of Backstage, so please don't bite my head off if I have it wrong. I'd love to be wrong about this. I'd love for it to be some great big practical joke....'cause I distinctly remember something about a report saying Jon said "of course the Soul dinner is still on".
Hmmm, maybe in the wake of the lawsuit...no, he'd just have to release more tickets, and he'd make up what he owes Joe.
I'd love to know what the official word is....then I'd love to know the truth.
Also, please don't email me and tell me that I'm telling "secrets" that only FC members should know. (I can pretty much guarantee that if this is in fact not a hoax, Anthony Kuzminski will have emails about this in the next 20 minutes from more than 10 irate fans.)
What this also means is that it's a more than even shot that JB will be doing that UN thing that we talked about last week.
By the way, I learned a couple new things about that.
First, it's invitation only. Damn. So, that means, if someone out there in Cyberland has an invitation, please note that I clean up real good (read as I show lots of cleavage) and will buy all your drinks. I don't put out on the first date, though. Shit, there go my chances. *sigh*
Second, Julian and Sean Lennon are NOT "scheduled" to attend. Depending on what you read, they're definitely-maybe-scheduled-to-possibly-perform-for-the-first-time-together-but-not-really-since-they-did-some-gig-back-in-the-90's-so-they'd-be-performing-together-for-the-first-time-again. (whew) One report claims that in Julian Lennon's MySpace page, he says they were never even asked to do the show. (Take that for what you will. I'm sure EVERYBODY is honestly who they say they are on MySpace. Or FaceBook. lol)
In any event, I really am looking forward to reading more about this; especially the fan reaction. What I am not looking forward to is yet another influx of converts to the DarkSide as a result of this.

Yep, its canceled. The fc board is about to implode over it ... or at least the Soul forum. Thread hasn't gone poof yet ...

And I'm surprised that the thread hasn't gone poof either.
I feel bad for fans who are out of hotel and non-refundable plane tix because of this.
I feel bad for everyone that had all these plans for a week of Soul/Bon Jovi related events and now the only thing left is the JBJ & Friends show. All that money for the events is being refunded, but the plane fares can't be. At least hotels can be cancelled for the most part and get refunds too.
I'm sure if it wasn't for it being the MC contest, the JBJ & Friends show would be cancelled too.
BS is collectively losing its mind.... that place is SCARY!
JBJBounce - yes, they are losing their minds ... wouldn't want to be in the front at that fc show considering how pissed some of those people are ... I'll be happy to stay out of the line of fire.

Damn the AFL for not acting sooner to level the financial playing field.
Damn ESPN for not advertising the AFL even after working a contract to air games in the Monday night slot. Not even in their own flipping magazine!
Damn the general American sports fan for being so closed minded about a new (and f'in awesome!) sport.

Although, I won't be at the FC/MC show.
Unemployment and the fact that it's not the whole band kept me from paying $250 to see it.
Stas - As you know, its not a "new" sport - its been around over 20 years. The problem came from the AFL forgetting their roots - it was never about tv deals and lots of press - it was about the players and the fans. When they started to forget that, it was the beginning of the end.
I don't know. I am not affected so don't have the disappointment. I think there is more to this than we know. I will wait to form an opinion until more facts are known. Now if they cancel the FC concert there will be hell to pay! LMAO! (don't worry, Hath, I will not be going to the dark side. he will need someone to keep him company when everyone else feels). ;)
I thought the dinner was nothing to do with the fan club?
You're right, Anon, it had nothing to do with the FC... But, the FC is already up in arms about the "Fan Club event" and most of the ticketbuyers for the dinner were (I think) FC members.
