The Bon Jovi Experience
To coincide with Bon Jovi’s 12 night residency at The O2 this summer, the British Music Experience is thrilled to announce that it will host an exclusive photography exhibition featuring never seen before images, personally curated by the band.
Throughout June, the British Music Experience – the national museum of popular music at The O2 – will be hosting this unique exhibition documenting life on the road for Bon Jovi, one of the world’s greatest bands.
The exhibition includes two floors of images, shot by band insider Phil Griffin who has enjoyed unparalleled access to the band over the last two years. All of the images have been chosen and put together by the band and feature shots from the first ever official Bon Jovi book ‘When We Were Beautiful’ as well as many previously unpublished and private photographs.
In addition to the exhibition, from 7th to 25th June, the British Music Experience will be showing teaser screenings of the Bon Jovi documentary, also titled ‘When We Were Beautiful’ and directed by Phil Griffin, which chronicles life on the road with the band and their 25 years together.
In a one-off Rock Photography and Filmography masterclass at the British Music Experience, date to be confirmed, Phil Griffin will be discussing his work with the band. Phil will also be sharing his experiences and talking through the images which make up the exhibition.
Paul Lilley, curator of the British Music Experience, said “We are glad to welcome Bon Jovi back to the British Music Experience. We’ve had a longstanding relationship with the band since we opened in 2009, hosting their secret gig for fans in November last year, and we are delighted to host the exhibition this June. ‘When We Were Beautiful’ is a must-see for Bon Jovi fans and British Music Experience visitors alike, offering an insight into life behind the scenes of one of the worlds greatest live bands."
Bon Jovi, this week launched their Opening Act at The O2 competition which already has received thousands of entrants. The band is looking to find unsigned UK bands to support them in front of sold out audiences during their mammoth June residency at The O2 arena.
Entrance to the ‘When We Were Beautiful’ exhibition is free for all fans attending the Bon Jovi concerts at The O2 on presentation of their ticket. Entrance to the museum is available for Bon Jovi ticket holders for the reduced rate of £5 (usual ticket price £15).
