Rock and Roll Tour of the Jersey Shore
From Amazon.com (click on the book cover to order):
Your guide and map to the places on the Jersey Shore that Bruce Springsteen, Southside Johnny, Jon Bon Jovi and others made famous (and not so famous). The book is highly recommended for those who have ever wondered what sites to see when they make that pilgrimage to Bruce Springsteen's Jersey Shore. This revised edition, published in June of 2008, is 202 pages with more than 500 photos of Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Southside Johnny and many others who made their mark on the Asbury Park area music scene over the years.
The book details close to 200 locations of historical rock 'n' roll sites in New Jersey's Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex counties - including Springsteen-related clubs, houses, street corners and other landmarks in Asbury Park, Freehold, Long Branch, Red Bank and beyond. More than 40 locations are listed for Asbury Park and 30 for Freehold, all well-annotated with maps, addresses and loads of history.
There are vignettes from fans about their local encounters with Springsteen over the years, as well as an in-depth look at rehearsals for his world tours the past 10 years at Asbury Park's Convention Hall and Paramount Theatre. The third edition features photos, many never before published, from top photographers Debra L. Rothenberg, Mark R. Sullivan, Lewis Bloom, John Cavanaugh and others.
If you're a Springsteen fan, a Southside Johnny fan, a Jon Bon Jovi fan, or just love the music that was produced in and is still played in Jersey Shore bars and clubs, "Rock & Roll Tour of the Jersey Shore" is the book for you.
CatteSambora purchased this after her visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and is raving about it so much I had to give it a look-see. She also sent all manners of photo scans from the book, which are amazing.
I'm thinking I have something else to put on my Birthday wish list...

This book is terrific. I have an old edition that a friend gave me when the current one came out. Definitely worth getting!
