NBC Nightly News
Last night's NBC Nightly News' "Make A Difference" segment was on Jon Bon Jovi and the millions of dollars he's used to help impoverished families in Philadelphia and New Jersey as part of the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation.
The foundation places low income and special needs families into apartments in Newark on a temporary basis until they can find jobs. It's often the first time that many of the beneficiaries have had a home of their own.
Bon Jovi encourages people who've benefited from the Soul Foundation to use what they have as a force for good in the world.
"I say 'Here, it's yours. You know, now take care of it. Do the right thing. Pay it forward. Go to job training. Go to classes that are provided here. Learn a job.'"
When Williams asked Bon Jovi if individuals can make a difference in their communities, the rock star was emphatic.
"I'm a firm believer, Brian, in the power of We. I say that over and over. The government can't do it alone. The private sector can't do it alone. But, with the power of We...Yeah, I do think that we can make a difference."
This is up as an FLV on my SkyDrive. MP3 rip too, in case you want to listen to it on your iPod.
The full version is up as well in the same folder; MP3 rip too.
