Richie in Think Magazine
Good Morning, my devotees. I've been away after promising you more news, and I'm sorry. I've been battling a cold, and the bitch has been winning. I've got a few moments of lucidity in between doses of reeeeeeally good cough medicine, and am endeavoring to catch up on as much as I can. It'll be all over the place, and wicked out of order, but hopefully I'll have you all caught up by the end of the day.
First up, Richie in Think Magazine.
From the age of 12, New Jersey native Richie Sambora has been creating magic with the strings of the guitar. Heavily influenced by blues, 60s rock 'n' roll, even Spanish classical music and though he has been known to use a broad variety of equipment throughout his career, it was the sounds of the Spanish guitar that sparked his admiration. However, Sambora pays tribute to his most important influences from icons like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page, Joe Perry and George Harrison. You can read the whole article (in fact, the whole magazine) below. The Richie article starts on page 60.
Today, Sambora has his hands, body and soul in all things musical as the lead guitarist, vocalist and songwriter for the legendary rock band Bon Jovi. Since joining the band in 1983, Bon Jovi has sold over 100 million records worldwide, charted seven #1 singles and countless Top Ten hits and in 2009, Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Creating music of his own was one of Sambora's longtime dreams, a dream that came true by releasing two solo albums, "Stranger in This Town " (1991) and "Undiscovered Soul " (1998). In promotion of "Undiscovered Soul ", Sambora toured internationally touching down in Japan, Australia and Europe. The touring band included Ron Wikso on drums, Kasim Sulton on bass, Tommy Mandel on the keyboards, Everett Bradley on percussion in Japan, Gioia Bruno on percussion in Australia and Crystal Talifero on percussion in Europe as well as the other half of South Florida's very own Bikers Bash hosts award winning singer/songwriter Richie Supa on guitar. In addition to his long list of accolades, Sambora has been named by TIME Magazine as one of the best guitarists of all time. Nevertheless, his heart is committed to kids in need and overall charity giving. Non profits such as the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Steve Young / Forever Young Foundation and Dream Street are known to be recipients of his good will. "Our children are the future and giving back has never felt so good, especially when it comes to kids in need", says Sambora.
In addition, on page 12 of the magazine, there's this (please try to ignore the mis-spelling of Richie's name ~ I know it's hard...)
And if you enter to win, try to ignore that the magazine lists Richie Supa as a "long time Bon Jovi band mate" of Richie's. Just concentrate on winning the tickets :)
Fine Print: The contest is open to all legal residents of the US aged 18 and older, only one entry allowed per person.
