Telford Students go Behind the Scenes
Four students from Edinburgh’s Telford College have been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of working behind-the-scenes for the day when international rockers Bon Jovi perform at Murrayfield Stadium next Wednesday, June 22.
The students – who between them have studied journalism, technical theatre and TV production at the College – have been offered the opportunity to gain some hands-on experience working as interns at Bon Jovi’s only Scottish performance at Murrayfield Stadium.
They will receive a backstage tour and be posted to various departments shadowing professional crew and gaining insights into production, management, customer service, ticketing, as well as the opportunity of joining media in filming and photographing part of the show for college projects.
Bon Jovi’s VIP Coordinator, Mike Savis said: “It’s not just being a roadie for the day, what we do with Bon Jovi is the ultimate modern live production, playing to tens of thousands of people at huge venues all over the world.
"It’s the greatest job in the world and we learn every day, inventing ways to make everything work, to adjust to each venue, to keep making sure the biggest band in the world put on the greatest rock show on earth night after night. Anything we can pass onto the next generation is a privilege.”
Commenting on the exciting experience they are being given, 19-year-old TV Production student, David Black from Edinburgh said: “I'm looking forward to finding out what it takes to make a big concert like Bon Jovi's work. I think it will be interesting to find out how much preparation goes into making something on such a large scale like this run smoothly.
"It will be good to see all the work done before they come on to play and when the music starts and there are thousands of fans watching. And obviously I'm looking forward to watching and getting the chance to film the concert.
"I haven't had any experience filming anything like this on my course so far, so it will be great experience to do it for the first time with Bon Jovi in front of the lens.”
