Munich Stream
If you, like me, missed the stream over the weekend (no wi-fi in the car on the way home from Maine lol) then thanks to the magic of YouTube, and the very lovely serpephone , you can watch it here:
There have been LOTS of comments about the recent set lists, and how Europe gets "all the good shows", while others have said the song selection was great, but Jon sounded like crap.
As for the second, well, nobody's perfect -- if sinuses/allergies were bothering him, he wouldn't be at his best.
As for the first, we in the StatesWOULD get better set lists if a bunch of things happened:
[1] IF people wouldn't sit down for good portions of the show, texting or otherwise ignoring the band.
[2] IF the venues didn't reserve the best seats for VIPs who don't give a shit about the band, just the status of having been in "the front row".
[3] IF more than a couple thousand fans at the shows actually DID know all the words.
Just my two cents' worth of input today.

Woo hoo! Thanks Hath!
I have to agree with you. I don't frankly blame Jon for the set lists here. I have seen the audience reaction to more rare tracks. They often look dazed and confused. But the hits get everyone standing and dancing. I was thankful to be at Mohegan this past winter, that was a rare treat.
Yes a lot of the audience in the US sucks. Yes the venues reserve seats. Yes a majority of people go for a random night out and a handful of songs.
But BJ are also the kind of band who plays to the lowest common denominator, specifically people who know a handful of songs on a night on the town, and then pride themselves on having 12 million facebook fans. If you repeatedly do this when touring a country almost a decade non stop and 3 dozen cities a leg, that's what people are gonna expect.
I'm not even American but American fans get a somewhat bad rap. Sure, the masses tended to ignore BJ during the years they tried their utter hardest, preferring grunge etc. Get over it and realize that even if only a quarter of the 'audience' truly loves you, it's still a big quarter because it's a huge country. But of course Jon would never play at the Greek or something. That's for suckers who can't sell out the desert. *roll* The only time any of them are ever 'artists' is when they play in some insignificant dives with their " and Friends". The other times they are only derivative businessmen, and at least the CEO moniker is not another lie out of Jon's mouth.
As for him sounding like crap. He also sounds way less like crap in those smaller settings. Surprise surprise a bloated act isn't the best way to feature a voice.
I totally agree that U.S. audiences aren't the best... I accepted that many years ago and have always considered myself in the "minority"... That's okay. I will never stop liking the band.
Next tour hopefully I'll be able to enjoy some shows besides in the U.S.
