Wanted Wednesday: Acoustic in Madrid, 1992
Please rise for the playing of our national anthem.
Today's selection comes from an "Acoustic in Madrid" bootleg I found in my pile. This particular track is off of Concierto Basico 40; a Spanish promotional-only 4-track CD featuring exclusive live tracks recorded live at 40 Principales Studios in Madrid, November 1992.
Gorgeous, acoustic, perfect. The whole boot is, actually. Just gorgeous. In fact, it's so pretty, that I can't NOT share the whole thing with you. If you head over to my bootleg trading blog, you can get the link to download the whole show.
Anyway, after a short but lovely guitar intro from our Richie -- I love when he does that -- into the notes we all know so well.
Jon's voice is very strong and emotive in this song. He skips up and down the notes like it's the easiest thing in the world.
The harmonies between Jon and Richie are superb (as always) but you can really hear them meshing together when they play acoustic.
The low key solo (encouraged by Jon's "Come on, baby!") is the "standard acoustic solo" that Richie does when they play this one unplugged, but it's no less spectacular for its regularness.
Jon's voice is a little growly at times, which is amazing, and by the time they tell us they've seen a million faces, you know, you just KNOW you're going to hit 'repeat' on this one.
Let's Ride!!
If you just want this particular song, it's here.

I'm not sure I'd ever heard Blood on Blood acoustic, but since the harmony is my favorite part of the song it works really well for me.
Thanks so much for sharing your Madrid treasure! They will become regulars on my playlist :o)
wow thanks!
