The Bozzett Book

There are a couple of interesting reads on the book; one who's all gung-ho about it and one that's ho-hum.  Both are worth a look.

The first, (gung-ho) is from the Lefsetz Letter. Here is an excerpt:

Desmond is the unsung hero of the Bon Jovi story. Reading this book, you realize that without him, Bon Jovi is just a band of big-haired wannabes with a minor radio hit featuring the piano playing of a member of the E Street Band.

...Do I believe every word of this book? Hell, his description of record royalties is so off it throws into question the veracity of so much more. And obviously he wrote the book because he’s pissed, he never got his promised 5% of Bon Jovi.

...the real story is Bon Jovi just didn’t have enough talent.

Jon highlighted his hair upon the advice of stylists. Research was done amongst the target demo in order to plot direction. But after the second album stiffed, there was no road to success, because Bon Jovi, the band, just couldn’t write hit material.
I know, it gets your back up, doesn't it?

The second, is from the Summit Daily News:
“Sex, Drugs & Bon Jovi” is an interesting look into the rock lifestyle, but it's a bit of a misnomer. With a name like that, you'd expect the book to delve into all kinds of juicy secrets about Bon Jovi.

The book actually has more information on Mötley Crüe's drug use than Jovi or his band's.

Bozzett also takes care to protect Jovi's reputation in such things as sex, particularly during Jovi's days with Dorothea...about the biggest display of sex in this book comes in the form of press shots with several naked women posing with Jovi and the band. Bozzett lets readers know Jovi just posed, so I'm not sure where the sex in the title came from.
Aside from calling Jon "Jovi" throughout, like it's his last name (which was a tad annoying) I liked the review.

What did you all think of the book? A friend scanned the book and sent it along, and I read some of it; I found the writing very juvenile and hard to get through. After about 5 pages, I filed it away on my hard drive.

That was an interesting thing to read, Hath. Do you perhaps know if the book can be found in a PDF or some other type of e-book?

I am in no way affiliated with the band or any of its members. I'm simply a fan looking for a way to celebrate my favorite band.
