More Gossip on Memphis: The Movie

Just gossip, but kinda made me go "huh?"

Filmmaker Oliver Stone seems to be interested in musicals.

After it was reported that Justin Timberlake want to bring the Broadway show 'Memphis' to the big screen, rumours started making rounds that Stone is also interested in the project.

"He saw it two times in a week. He's also taken a number of meetings with David Bryan (the Bon Jovi keyboard player who co-wrote the music and lyrics)," the New York Post quoted a source as saying.

A representative for the 'Wall Street 2'director said: "He's thinking about it."

This doesn't seem like Oliver Stone's style for directing -- Platoon, Wall Street, JFK, Any Given Sunday -- but he did the screenwriting for Evita, so who knows? It's all speculation at this point, but I thought it was an interesting tidbit -- even if it did come from my Google Alerts.

Don't forget, he did "The Doors" too, with Val Kilmer.... not his finest moment, but still...
