JB to help pay off Clinton debt
Rocker Jon Bon Jovi will headline a fundraiser for future U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton aimed at reducing her electoral debt, organizers say.
The Manhattan event scheduled for Jan. 15 at Town Hall will feature the "Destination Anywhere" rocker as well as an appearance by Clinton's husband, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, the New York Daily News reported Friday.
The "Thank you, Hillary: A Salute to Hillary Clinton" event is intended to raise money for Clinton, the U.S. senator from New York who still has $6.4 million in debt she racked up in her unsuccessful campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination. Clinton is giving up her Senate seat after being picked by President-elect Barack Obama for the foreign affairs Cabinet post.
The debt total was significantly less than the reported $12 million Clinton's campaign owed last June, the Daily News said.
The newspaper also reported Vice President-elect Joe Biden will hold a fundraiser for Clinton next week in Philadelphia.
I think it's interesting they tout him as the "Destination Anywhere" rocker. And for the $1000 tickets, you get a meet and greet...with Madame Clinton.
