The Band Needs a Break

Billboard is running an article based on an interview with Richie and Tico.

"I think we need to take a break," drummer Tico Torres told Billboard.com during a conference call with reporters. "It's a long, extensive tour since last February, not just the tour but putting it together, doing the record ['The Circle']. It's a long process, and I think it's important for us to just get away from the audience for a bit. Sometimes you need to get away so people can appreciate you better, and you also have to get away to live your life and create and recharge... So the best thing I can tell you is we're gonna need a couple years off for sure."

Guitarist Richie Sambora, however, countered, "We do need a little bit of a break, but not that much of a break, 'cause what's going to happen is there's more songs to be written and... Y'know, guess what? We want to be the Rolling Stones. I know I do."
So a couple years off or less, depending on what everyone's doing, and what the music muses demand. Kinda what we figured.

But with the Bon Jovi Live 2011 Tour kicking off tonight at the Starland, and going through the summer, we don't have to worry about the hiatus. Not yet.

You can read the rest of the article here.

Yeah your right, they aren't getting any younger. I mean Tico is gonna be 58 in october, Richie is gonna be 52 in July and Jon and David are gonna be 49 in February and March. But they all have families and need a little break. A couple years or less is good. They can relax after 5 tours this decade and just chill and enjoy their kids and then come back. Like Jon and Richie have said. They sorta wanna be like the Stones.

Sorry cause I will offend people now, but to me Richie sounds like he desperately wants to be the Stones. I'm a little sick of that myself. Even the Stones are not the Stones anymore. I know some will consider it blasphemy, but who has actually seen them? Back up singers do more singing than them, all Keith does is fiddle around and make rock poses, their added keyboard player is LOUDER in the mix than anything else... BJ are younger and their show is still basically similar to what it once was, and Jon's knees still don't look arthritic enough for me to worry about him. Honestly I'm not too keen on Richie's 'Nooo! We aint going anywhere! Really!" thing.
