Jon in London?

Or video-ing it in?

According to the Mirror, JonBon will be among those honoring Britain's unsung heroes.

Mo Farah’s run to glory in the Olympic 10,000 metres inspired all Britain – but it would never have happened if not for the man he calls his own inspiration.

The nation’s future hero was struggling to settle in Britain three years after leaving war-torn Somalia at the age of eight.

Then he was placed in Alan Watkinson’s PE class at school – and his life changed for ever.

Double gold winner Mo, now 29, returned to his old school as the guest at its annual prize-giving.

And after presenting the Farah Cup, which the Isleworth and Syon School for Boys awards to a pupil who shows remarkable effort, mighty Mo invited Alan to join him on the stage in West London.

As 300 pupils cheered, he told Alan: “You are an inspiration to me – and you are now the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Teacher of the Year.”

The track superstar then handed over Alan’s invitation to the Pride of Britain Awards, to be hosted by Carol Vorderman and sponsored by Lidl at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

Prince Charles, David Cameron, Pierce Brosnan, Jon Bon Jovi, Gary Barlow, Dawn French and Nicole Scherzinger will be among more than 100 celebrities uniting to honour Britain’s unsung heroes.

Soraia Live on Toil Rock Radio

Thanks to CatteSambora for the information below, and the stream of this Soraia event.

Soraia was live on a 3-hour radio show last night. They talked, played, and previewed songs from the new record for two hours (there were station breaks/music in between).

Some really fun banter and good interviews, including quite a bit with Obie. He talked about how he came to work with Soraia, how Jon got involved, the record business, recording, touring, etc...

He also talked quite a bit about Jon and Hugh (he and Hugh played in bands together back in the early 60s and are neighbors). And about wormholes and "pornographic food."

Most of the night was focused on songwriting, her musical history, and plans for the future. She took a few calls and web chat questions as well.

Sue was asked, but noncommittal about touring with Bon Jovi in 2013... but didn't rule it out. Toward the end of the interview it gets pretty hard-R-rated (mostly DJ/host comments), so be warned.

The stream of the whole event (less the non-Soraia stuff) is up on my Mediafire, for those of you who are interested.

Happy Anniversary, Soul Kitchen!

(October 19, 2012)

From the Soul Foundation's Website
The JBJ Soul Foundation's Soul Kitchen celebrates their first year of success; redefining how the issue of hunger can be addressed. The Soul Kitchen has served over 11,500 meals, most recently 31% of their diners were people in-need; and volunteers have donated over 12,200 hours of time to the program.

The JBJ Soul Kitchen began as a pilot program serving meals in 2009, assessing the patrons’ needs and response to the model, before renovating an old 1,100 square foot auto-body shop as the Kitchen’s new, permanent location. While under construction volunteers painted, landscaped and helped transform a 3 bay garage into a beautiful oasis. Neighbors offered food, furniture, dishes, their time and expertise; the Red Bank community welcomed and embraced the Soul Kitchen mission leading up to the grand opening last year on October 19, 2011.

“We are so thankful to everyone in the Red Bank community and beyond for all the support during our first official year of service,” stated Mimi Box, Director of the JBJ Soul Foundation. “It tells us that there is a population of supporters and people in need out there who believe that access to fresh, nutritious food & meals should be available to all, regardless of their economic place in our community. As we look towards the future we hope to continue to spread the mission of the JBJ Soul Foundation through programs such as JBJ Soul Kitchen and help those in need one soul at a time”.

Inspired by the old adage, “teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime” diners in need who come to the Soul Kitchen are empowered – they have the opportunity to earn a seat at the table for themselves and their families through volunteer hours at the Kitchen or other local organizations. They are served by the wait-staff in a lovely restaurant atmosphere with the dignity of having earned their meal. Those patrons who can afford to dine anywhere are rewarded with not only a delicious meal but with the knowledge that by dining out and leaving more than the suggested donation, they’ve contributed to their community.

In addition, Soul Kitchen has been able to provide more than just meals to those who dine at the restaurant; they have connected members of the community to those who are in need of help, in some cases resulting in job opportunities as it did for one gentleman who lost his job in construction last fall. He came to Soul Kitchen and volunteered to wash dishes, clean windows, and help out in any way he could. One night while eating at a community table he met and was hired by a local landlady who needed a handyman. He has since been hired by a contractor and has been working steadily for the last two months.

This spring, Soul Kitchen began a successful fundraising Guest Chef series, which brought celebrity chefs such as Mario Batali and Tom Collichio to Soul Kitchen; as well as brothers Victor and Bobby Rallo, from the local Basil T's restaurant.

The Soul Kitchen operates as a program of the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation and is sustained by cash payment from customers who are able to pay the suggested donation (or even a little more).

Because We Can - The Tour

Yep, the tour has probably the BEST name ever.

Why start the tour before the record even comes out? Because we can.

Why increase the FC membership prices? Because we can.

Why do you seem to sell a thousand different black t-shirts, but only a few with different colors? Because we can.

Why give 24 hours' notice for the first pre-sales event? Because we can.

I. Love. It.

The Boys on the Big Screen Again

I'm pretty sure I'll only be going to this if my son wants to go.  The last time they released their "movie" in theaters, a handful of people showed up. It was fun, but better to buy the damned thing and watch it at home.  It definitely looks interesting, and is something I'd want to round out my collection, but I'm not going nuts trying to get to a theater.

Anyone have a different take on going to see this in theaters?

~ Hath

On November 27, select movie theaters nationwide will screen Bon Jovi Inside Out, a live concert film that features the best performances from the band’s 12-night stand at London’s O2 arena, their multi-night run at New Jersey’s new Meadowlands Stadium and their most recent show at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The movie will be presented in split-screen format, providing what’s described as “a unique view of the band performing this dream set list.”

The screening will also feature a live broadcast from New York’s Times Square, during which the band — Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, Tico Torres and David Bryan — will answer fan questions and discuss a forthcoming 2013 tour in support of that new album. According to Fathom Events, which is presenting the screening, the new album is called What About Now.

The screening will take place at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT and tape-delayed at 7 p.m. MT/8 p.m. PT. Tickets are available now at FathomEvents.com.

Tico Torres Playing Golf for Charity

Fore!

Have the day off on Friday? Watch Miami Dolphins, NFL alumni, Emmy award winning actors and other celebrities tee off at the Miami Beach Golf Club for the Second Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament, brought to us by Loews Miami Beach Hotel.

The event benefits DonorsChoose.org, an online nonprofit connecting donors to classrooms in need and The Foundation for New Education Initiatives advancing Dade County Public Schools.

Confirmed charitable players are Nat Moore, Bon Jovi drummer, Tico Torres, actors Romany Malco and Tom Welling, best known for his role as Clark Kent on the TV series Smallville.

Operation Sambora 2012 - Bon Jovi Club Italia

Found on YouTube. Thank you Google Alerts (lol)!
This is something really unique: a private interview with Richie Sambora, that BJCI (Bon Jovi Club Italy) recorded in Amsterdam, NL, on Oct. 10, just after the first gig of the Aftermath of The Lowdown Tour!

BJCI not only was able to get this interview (in collaboration with Audioglobe Distribuzioni and Kizmaiaz), but succeeded in giving to Richie a very special gift from Italian Luthier Fabrizio Paoletti.

A great half hour with Richie.
