Idiotic? You Decide

From Runaway Tours:
Dear Runaways,

We thank you for your patience.

We are happy to announce that our Richie Sambora event is CONFIRMED!!! As you have heard Richie had fallen ill. Per his doctors orders he has had to postpone his shows so not to do further damage to his vocal cords. Richie was most concerned about his most loyal fans, YOU! He insisted on not letting his fans down and has asked if he may come and spend some time with us.

Richie will NOT be performing since he will not be allowed to sing for some time in order to heal. We have been working on finding a location where we will be able to do a Q&A and Photo Op with Richie. We are so proud of him and are happy to be part of his team when he shows that it is YOU who comes first. This has turned into something very special in the way that Richie has never done such an event with his fans. He is looking forward to spending time with you, answering questions and taking photos with everyone.

The schedule of the trip ALL stays the same. Nothing else has changed. We will be refunding everyone the cost of the show ticket and we will be picking up the cost of the rental of the special location of the Q&A.

You will be given the location upon check in. Have no fear Runaway Tours is here. We hope to see you ALL in a couple days. A copy of this post will also be emailed to everyone who booked their trip with us.
Don't damage the vocal cords, but come and talk for an hour, doing a question and answer session. While you're at it, take your already compromised immune system and get up close and personal with people who have traveled from who knows where with nary a bottle of Purell in sight.

I get not wanting to disappoint people who have shelled out big bucks for the "whole experience".  I know if I were going, I'd be glad to be getting SOMETHING for my money.

But this seems idiotic to me.  Seems like a sure way to cancel Cali shows too.

2nd Annual “What’s on the Table?”

(August 28, 2012)

On Saturday, August 25, Top Chef and restaurateur Tom Colicchio and his wife filmmaker Lori Silverbush, rocker Jon Bon Jovi his wife Dorothea Hurley, Susan Burden, and philanthropist Avis Richards and Marathon hedge fund co-founder Bruce Richards hosted the 2nd annual “What’s on the Table?”, an event to benefit the anti-hunger programs of the United Way of New York City.

In their speeches, Colicchio, Bon Jovi, both Richards, and Ms. Silverbush – director of the forthcoming documentary about hunger titled “A Place at the Table” – stressed the critical nature of the issue hunger in America. One startling statistic revealed is that 1 in 5 children go hungry daily in the United States. Guests were encouraged to call their Congressional representatives to protect funding in the Farm Bill for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which puts healthy food on the table for 46 million Americans each month.

100% of the evening’s net proceeds went to the United Way’s campaign to significantly reduce hunger in New York City. A portion of the funds raised came from an exciting auction presided over by Cate Smit, who sold a surprise item: a private dinner cooked by Tom Colicchio with a performance by Jon Bon Jovi at the bidder’s home. It went for $40,000.

@TheRealSambora US Shows POSTPONED

No, this is not a joke.

Or if it is, TicketBastard, Best Buy, and radio stations across the country are in on it.

For ticket holders; check your point-of-purchase to find out how refunds, etc., will be handled.

I haven't seen anything "official" anywhere about the reason why but rumor has it doctors have told him to rest his voice. I could be making that up.

I'm NOT making up the cancellations though.

Would that I were...

Get better soon, Richie!!

Another Update

Hey everyone --

Sorry I've been MIA the last two weeks -- I've been moving house from my place here in Boston to my  new place south of the Mason-Dixon line.  It took a swarm of movers to pack and unpack my house, and after a myriad of new-house-issues, I think everything is all set now.  I'm back Up North for several months, tying up loose ends, etc., and am hopeful that I can get through my backlog in the next week or so and stay caught up (for a while at least).

As always, thanks for your understanding and support.

Hugs,
Hath
