DiPietro Interview

Thanks, Catte, for dropping this in my inbox.

Joe talks about Memphis and David's involvement / learning curve / innate talent, a little about Toxie, and about the new David collab coming up, called Chasing the Song.

Part 1 Memphis

Part 2 Toxie/Chasing the Song

Catte called out this excerpt, which made me laugh, too:
PC: Do you thinkJon Bon Jovicould play Huey someday, especially given the Bon Jovi connection with David? He would be fabulous in it, I think.

JD: [Big Laugh.] Well, I do have to say, I may have strongly hinted at exactly that with David early on and I was told by David in not uncertain terms it was not a very good idea. [Laughs.] I think that Jon does his own thing and he is obviously a great rock star and I’m not sure if he has Broadway ambitions - plus, I think it might be a bit dicey for Jon to work with David in a situation where David is suddenly the boss. You know, Jon and David are like brothers, so I think it would be a weird situation all around for him to step into the show. But, I agree with you - he would be really good as Huey, I think.

PC: He’s a compelling actor in his own right, as well.

JD: Oh, yeah - definitely. I’d never say no, but I think it would be a weird configuration for the Bon Jovi folks to have to deal with.

60 Minutes Interview?

Apparently JBJ was filming [another] one in NYC on Friday (June 1).  We'll have to keep our collective eyes peeled for that one.

Jon at Datapalooza

Jon Bon Jovi put on a solid standing room only performance yesterday and he didn’t strum a guitar or sing a note.

He was part of Health Datapalooza, a government sponsored event being held in Washington, D.C., and hosted by two government agencies – The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies (IOM) and the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

With nearly 2000 attendees, the conference brings together tech entrepreneurs, policy makers, companies and community advocates with a focus on new web-based and mobile healthcare applications.

Jon Bon Jovi was at the conference not to play songs, but to highlight his efforts as both as a Presidential appointee to the White House Council for Community Solutions as well as Chairman of the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation in finding technology solutions to alleviate hunger and homelessness.

You can read the rest of the article at Forbes.

CatteSambora sent me the link to the archive, it's here.  Jon's remarks start around 1:42.

Soraia at Dobb's

This is a guest post from CatteSambora, who had the opportunity to be at The Legendary Dobb's last night for Soraia's Industry Showcase.

SORAIA Special Industry Showcase
The Legendary Dobbs
Philadelphia PA
June 6, 2012

It was a BIG night.

How big, you ask?

HUGE.

Industry Big-Wigs and Special Guests a-plenty.

And yes, HE was there.

Soraia collaborator and backer Jon Bon Jovi slipped quietly into the rear of the crowd at the beginning of the hard-rockin' set, to the surprise and delight of the couple hundred fans packing the house.  Twitter was a-Twitter within minutes...

Soraia showcase tonight at Dobbs has the one & only Jon Bon Jovi in attendance along with top records execs & producers! The Legendary Dobbs
Wowwww. Jon Bon Jovi in the building to see @Soraia. Only the best and brightest to see a great band

Ummmm Jon Bon Jovi is here wtf. Right in front of me.

Midway through the show Zou Mansour gave a little shout-out to JBJ, causing heads to whip around gawk at the familiar-looking guy standing in the crowd.  And as soon as the show was over, he was gone.

But the real Rock Stars were on the stage.  Soraia blasted through a tight, energetic 45-minute set that highlighted their recent songwriting endeavors. The crowd loved it, feeding off Zou Mansour's electric performance and energizing the band.  Though there was hardly room to move in the crowded bar, nobody could stand still.
It was over too soon.  Half the crowd poured out onto South Street to breathe and smoke and comment on what they had witnessed.  Overheard on the sidewalk in front of Dobbs:

"Damn, they kicked ASS!"
"I've never SEEN this place so packed!"
"They're Big Time, Baby."

When Zou emerged from the bar she was inundated with congratulations and hugs from dozens of people who had witnessed the spectacle -- some who had wandered in for a free show and had left new Soraia fans.  She offered gracious thanks and posed for photos, grinning with hard-earned satisfaction.

As for the Industry VIPs... if they were paying any attention, they had to see the connection between the band and the crowd, to feel the synergy of the music and the electric spirit of that crowded music hall.

Soraia ROCKED.

Setlist:

  1. Have Love, Will Travel (Sonics cover)
  2. Like a Woman Would
  3. Love Like VooDoo
  4. Walk in the Room (Jackie DeShannon/The Searchers cover)
  5. Runaround
  6. Never Again
  7. Good Ain't Good Enough
  8. Want What I Want

Thanks Catte!!

These photos are from her as well, and the YouTube videos linked above are from her, too.

About that Billboard Poll...

... so an hour or so ago, I posted about the Sexiest Man in Music thing that Billboard is doing.  @teripp on Twitter asked me to blog about this article in the Examiner.

...within minutes of social media sites Facebook and Twitter picking up news of Jon’s nomination, the effort to write-in Richie took off full swing:

@teripp tweeted: “…without making JBJ fans angry, there is write-in. I know there is a Richie campaign to get him on the chart as a write-in”.

@sashawasha added: “Campaigning to get @TheRealSambora added to the Sexiest Rock God thing! But love JBJ too!

Indeed, ask any female Sambora fan how they feel about Richie (outside of the 50 Shades of Fan Fiction), and they will tell you they just want to wrap their arms around him and protect him. Which is why right now, Richie Sambora fans all over the globe want you to go to the Billboard site and vote, before the results are revealed June 11.

Vote for Billboard's "Sexiest Man and Woman In Music" here.
So, if you're inclined to vote, you have another option.  Or options -- if you refresh the page after voting, you can vote again.  And again.  And again...

JBJ at Air Force One

Most likely from the press pool, as they are on the TARMAC.

JonBon on Air Force One

From the Politico:

Rocker Jon Bon Jovi got a lift Monday to New York on Air Force One with President Obama.

The Bon Jovi frontman was spotted by reporters rounding a corner at JFK airport in New York City. After he was spotted, the White House acknowledged that he joined the president on the flight. A White House official said he was traveling as a "guest of the President."

Bon Jovi is headlining a campaign event at the Waldorf-Astoria, where he will perform for about 500 supporters. According to a White House official, the campaign paid for Bon Jovi's trip.
FoxNewsInsider reports that Jon & Friends played a brief set, including Prayer and Here Comes the Sun.

JonBon & Tebow

JonBon and Tim Tebow had lunch last week in NYC.

Now people, sometimes lunch is just lunch.

It does NOT mean Jonny's giving up Giants blue for Jets green.

Just sayin'.
