Jon Bon Jovi stealthily slipped out after the Tribeca Film Institute’s benefit screening of "New Year’s Eve" at the Ziegfeld on Wednesday to head to Mario Batali’s mecca of mangia, Eataly. The Fanta-Pants toque was whipping up a private dinner for 15 with fellow celeb chefs David Chang and Tom Colicchio, and Bon Jovi was the entertainment.

Diners had bid $160,000 at a Food Bank for New York gala for the evening, which was originally just for the chefs, but Bon Jovi threw himself into the package to up the winning bid. He sang "Who Says You Can’t Go Home" before heading back to the "New Year’s" after-party at the Hilton Ballroom.

JonBon Rocks Through the Pain

If the name Jon Bon Jovi still brings to mind big hair, leather pants, and "Livin' on a Prayer," well it's time to fast forward about 25 years. The lead singer of the legendary Jersey pop metal band Bon Jovi is now nearly 50 years old and has just taken on a new gig … as an Advil spokesperson. (Hey, ever meet someone approaching the big 5-0 who doesn't have a few aches and pains?)

The makers of Advil hooked up with Jon after he injured his calf muscle while performing on stage last year and he later revealed in an interview that he relies on the pain reliever to get through the inevitable discomfort that comes with a job that frequently involves singing and dancing at stadium-sized performances.

"I'm sort of an athlete, up on stage," Jon said during a behind-the-scenes interview for the 30-second TV ad, which was shot at the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Kitchen, a community kitchen in Red Bank, New Jersey, which provides meals to those in need.

"Life's a juggling act, you've got to make time and balance everything simultaneously, and make it look easy. It's anything but easy," said the rocker, who's been married to his high school sweetheart, Dorothea, for 22 years, is dad to four kids, and an avid runner.

Jon joins Regis and Joy Philbin, who shared their Advil story in October. And for you young folks who can't imagine having to deal with knee pain or back aches, just wait 30 years … when Justin Bieber realizes that he can't bop around like he used to.

Toughest star to nab? That award goes to Jon Bon Jovi. "Jon Bon (who plays a rock star pining for Heigl), I couldn't get all together," said Marshall. "I sent him the script and no one could find him and I couldn't get an answer. Weeks went by, and when I get in trouble, I always call my sister Penny (Marshall)." That's one famous sister who can deliver: "An hour later she called back (saying),'He didn't read the script, he wants to do it, I told him you'd be nice to him.' "

Q. How do you handle these big actors?
A. It's the same sensitivity you learn anywhere. For instance, we heard from Jon Bon Jovi's representatives that he couldn't show up on a certain day, so I went directly to Jon and asked him what the problem was. He said, "It's my daughter's first day at college and I've got to take her." I said, "Of course you do. I can shift the schedule." That's all it takes. Just talk to them. (source)
