Passengers on board the recent Kiss Kruise had a chance to lob a few questions at the legendary band’s manager last month, and inevitably their exclusion from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame came up. Doc McGhee didn’t dance around the subject. If the band is nominated for 2013 it won’t be because he’s saying all the right things.
"You have to remember that the Hall of Fame is made up of a boy’s club in New York,” McGhee says in the video [below]. “And they would rather take an Ethiopian sax player that played on some obscure f—in’ record then to put Kiss, or Bon Jovi, Rush, Def Leppard, any of those bands..."
Bon Jovi was nominated last year, and McGhee said he told their lead singer that he’d be watching McGhee get enshrined before he did. "It’s not really the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when you have Donna Summer, and you have Blondie mixed in."
It’s been two years since the rocker with a soul came to Camden – not to perform, but to make a difference. And what a difference he’s made. Corner lots are greener. Families have homes. College kids have a safe place to stay. And homeless men can rest a bit easier.
Next month, Jon Bon Jovi will attend the Heart of Camden gala to accept the “Small Things with Great Love” award for his foundation. The people of Camden have seen firsthand what can happen when a rock star picks you from the crowd – it can change everything. In Camden, it already has.
The Heart of Camden will host its annual gala on December 2 at the Crowne Plaza in Cherry Hill. Jon Bon Jovi will attend the event to accept the “Small Things with Great Love” award for the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation. The event begins at 6 pm and includes dinner and dancing. Tickets are $175 per person. Sponsorship opportunities and program advertising are available. To learn more, visit heartofcamden.org.
Jon Bon Jovi - Bon Jovi Seeks Top NFL Owner's Advice About Buying Into Sports Club
Rocker Jon Bon Jovi is seeking expert advice as he contemplates buying a stake in an American football club - he has turned to New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft for his wisdom.
The Bon Jovi frontman was first rumoured to be interested in picking up a share in the Atlanta Falcons earlier this year, joining the likes of Marc Anthony and Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie as a celebrity owner of a National Football League team.
He has yet to cement a deal, but it appears he's looking for help from Kraft after the odd couple was spotted enjoying a "business-like" dinner together in New York on Wednesday (02Nov11).
A source tells the New York Post's Page Six column, "Bon Jovi has flirted with buying into an Nfl franchise and it looks like he was getting some advice from Bob."
Bon Jovi does have some sports business expertise - he was a former owner of U.S. Arena Football League team the Philadelphia Soul.
Now, not that we had binoculars or anything, but when we gals were at the Patriots game this past weekend (where the Giants outplayed us all around, dammit) we couldn't see Mr. B in the box with Mr. K. Not that we checked or anything...
MSG Network announced today that it will telecast a new five-part series called "The Garden Transformed: Year One" that will take sports and entertainment fans behind-the-scenes of the first phase of the three phase transformation of Madison Square Garden, which includes three consecutive offseason shutdowns. The series, which will continue after phase two and phase three of the project over the next two years, will debut this winter.
The series will not only focus on the construction taking place, but the personalities behind the intense work schedule and their dedication to the beloved building. In addition, the show includes all-new interviews with a number of celebrities who recently saw the results of phase one of the transformation, including comedian Chris Rock and Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, who share their personal experiences at The World's Most Famous Arena.
"I went from watching the Purple Rain Tour in the last row to actually being on stage. How much better does life get?" says Rock.
"After playing all over the world and touring for the last 29 years, there's only one Madison Square Garden," says Sambora. "The New York audience is the best, but they're tough because they've seen everyone here, so you've got to be on your game."
Hopefully someone who GETS the MSG Network will record and share this series. Time will tell...
In addition to his guitar-shredding skills, Bon Jovi‘s Richie Sambora clearly has many other qualities — and one of them, apparently, is honesty. When VH1 News caught up with him on the red carpet of Alicia Keys’ Keep a Child Alive Black Ball last week, he gave a little update about his recent reunion with Denise Richards.
“Things are good and I’m happy,” he said. “We always dug each other. She’s a great gal, and sweet, and we have a lot in common. We went through a lot together. … Easy on the eyes!”
But then reporter Janell Snowden may have slightly led Richie into a trap a minute later in the conversation, when she had him talking about the posters he had on his wall when he was a teenager.
“I had Raquel Welch, that big poster from One Million Years B.C., and I had Charlie’s Angels‘ Farrah [Fawcett]. Hair and boobs, man. What are you going to do? Guys love that.”
But Denise, honey, he loves you because you’re sweet too!
In this clip, CBSNews.com's Ken Lombardi speaks with Alicia Keys, Tyra Banks, David Arquette, and Richie Sambora about Keys' charity, Keep A Child Alive, and it's 2011 Black Ball for stars to raise funds for children affected by HIV and AIDS in India and Africa.. Richie's appearance is around 2:20.
At the event, Richie told OK! Magazine this about his relationship with Denise Richards:
Richie told OK!, "I'm happy! We're good. That's my comment. That's good. Things are good." He added, "I'm happy and that's the way it goes."
I hope for his sake that it works out better this time around for them.
No, Jon didn't write a book, but he was on hand at the book signing in NYC for Paul Schmitz's book "Everyone Leads".
There are several pictures floating around from the event. In some of them, it appears Mr. Bongiovi is garnering more attention than the Distinguished Author. And the missus looks less than thrilled.

PS, anyone else think to themselves, "Everyone leads? Know what else everyone does? Everyone poops."
No? Just me? Damn I love this medication. Codeine ROCKS.
Good Morning, my devotees. I've been away after promising you more news, and I'm sorry. I've been battling a cold, and the bitch has been winning. I've got a few moments of lucidity in between doses of reeeeeeally good cough medicine, and am endeavoring to catch up on as much as I can. It'll be all over the place, and wicked out of order, but hopefully I'll have you all caught up by the end of the day.
First up, Richie in Think Magazine.
From the age of 12, New Jersey native Richie Sambora has been creating magic with the strings of the guitar. Heavily influenced by blues, 60s rock 'n' roll, even Spanish classical music and though he has been known to use a broad variety of equipment throughout his career, it was the sounds of the Spanish guitar that sparked his admiration. However, Sambora pays tribute to his most important influences from icons like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page, Joe Perry and George Harrison.
Today, Sambora has his hands, body and soul in all things musical as the lead guitarist, vocalist and songwriter for the legendary rock band Bon Jovi. Since joining the band in 1983, Bon Jovi has sold over 100 million records worldwide, charted seven #1 singles and countless Top Ten hits and in 2009, Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Creating music of his own was one of Sambora's longtime dreams, a dream that came true by releasing two solo albums, "Stranger in This Town " (1991) and "Undiscovered Soul " (1998). In promotion of "Undiscovered Soul ", Sambora toured internationally touching down in Japan, Australia and Europe. The touring band included Ron Wikso on drums, Kasim Sulton on bass, Tommy Mandel on the keyboards, Everett Bradley on percussion in Japan, Gioia Bruno on percussion in Australia and Crystal Talifero on percussion in Europe as well as the other half of South Florida's very own Bikers Bash hosts award winning singer/songwriter Richie Supa on guitar. In addition to his long list of accolades, Sambora has been named by TIME Magazine as one of the best guitarists of all time. Nevertheless, his heart is committed to kids in need and overall charity giving. Non profits such as the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Steve Young / Forever Young Foundation and Dream Street are known to be recipients of his good will. "Our children are the future and giving back has never felt so good, especially when it comes to kids in need", says Sambora.
You can read the whole article (in fact, the whole magazine) below. The Richie article starts on page 60.
In addition, on page 12 of the magazine, there's this (please try to ignore the mis-spelling of Richie's name ~ I know it's hard...)
And if you enter to win, try to ignore that the magazine lists Richie Supa as a "long time Bon Jovi band mate" of Richie's. Just concentrate on winning the tickets :)
Fine Print: The contest is open to all legal residents of the US aged 18 and older, only one entry allowed per person.
Please rise for the playing of our national anthem.
On this date back in 1993 the boys were in Santiago.
Hot.
Delicious.
Santiago.
This particular cut has a GORGEOUS long intro from our Richie. Seriously long. Then the lead in to a fantastic performance. This boot is from the radio, so partway into Wanted itself is the announcer dude (startled me the first time I heard it lol) but other than that, it's "wicked nice".
