Hey look! It's Jon Bovi!

Thanks, Mys, for this drop into my inbox :)

Page Six has this funny blurb from the NYC Police Foundation's 40th Anniversary Gala:

Respected interviewer Charlie Rose got tongue-tied by Jon Bon Jovi in front of hundreds at the New York City Police Foundation's 40th anniversary gala -- twice calling him "Jon Bovi." Onstage introducing the rocker, who was about to perform with the NYPD band at the Waldorf on Thursday, Rose repeatedly mangled his name, leaving the star roaring with laughter. Rose also got a laugh from the audience, especially as Chevy Chase stood up at his table, punched the air and chanted, "Bovi, Bovi." The event, which honored Ronald Perelman for his support of the NYPD, was chaired by Commissioner Ray Kelly and attended by a host of The Finest, along with Regis Philbin, Kyle MacLachlan, Jimmy Buffett, Steve Guttenberg, Christine Quinn & Michael Douglas. After playing with the band, with Kelly and Perelman on drums, Bovi -- ahem -- Bon Jovi told us, "They were great. If they ever want to give up their day jobs they could play with me anywhere."

Eddie Trunk's Essential Hard Rock & Heavy Metal

One of rock's great storytellers, Trunk finally has a book where he can share some of his yarns. The lifelong Jersey resident and longtime DJ will be signing copies of his new collection, "Eddie Trunk's Essential Hard Rock and Heavy Metal," Wednesday at Bookends in Ridgewood.

Trunk said he always envisioned writing an autobiography, a juice-dripping-from-the-pages account of his life in music. But Trunk still has his feet planted deep in this industry (he is the host of "That Metal Show" on VH1 Classic and hosts a national radio show on XM). He did not want to alienate friends or future interview subjects.

So he wrote about how Metallica indirectly helped him land a job with a record label. And he wrote about an encounter with Jon Bon Jovi.

The ever-lovely (and willing to share) Catte Sambora sent along the Bon Jovi section of the book.

Links and Things

First (thanks Kiwi) there's a tour EPK (electronic press kit) video up on this site.  I'm tech-challenged today, and can't seem to get it to stream/download for me, so you'll have to go to the website here, to play it.

Second (thanks WildFlower), the Munich show (June 12) is going to be streamed at this website.  Click the link, and you can register your email address and get a message sent to you when the stream is starting.

I'll remind everyone about the stream as the Munich show gets closer.

Another Reason to Believe - Relaunch

Hi Everyone!  Yes, Believe is re-launching today!!! At 10am Eastern, the edited first chapter will hit the ether.

I'm very excited to be sharing this story again.  I've been working on edits for the past several months with a very dear, close friend, and I've gotten through the first 20,000 words so far, and have plugged MANY holes in the story :)

I plan to post every 7-10 days, depending on how quickly the polished chapters are REALLY ready for prime-time, and the story should wind up (looking like) right around 30 chapters or so -- we'll see.

I hope you're looking forward to reacquainting yourself with (this) Richie, Angel Rose, and of course, Kirstin.

JBJ Soul Kitchen -- September Launch

New Jersey Newsroom has this article about the JBJ Soul Kitchen.
At the April Planning Board Meeting in Red Bank, the JBJ Soul Kitchen, founded by Dorothea Bongiovi (wife of pop-rock musician Jon Bon Jovi) received instant, unanimous approval for its plans to open a permanent community-based eatery, which will provide a meal for anybody who walks in – whether he/she can pay or not. The plans had been filed by her mega-star philanthropist husband's non-profit organization, the JBJ Soul Foundation.

With the Planning Board's approval, construction will start shortly on the space to add a kitchen, dining room, appropriate lighting and exterior signage. Plans also call for improvements to the sidewalk and driveway, which will be redone in gray stone, not pavement according to attorney Michael Monroe.

According to Dorothea Bongiovi, Soul Kitchen should be up and operating some time in September.

Her vision is to see the eatery as a job training center and a community center. In the front, there will be an organic garden providing food for the restaurant. And her vision isn't just local – it's global. Bongiovi want to build the Red Bank kitchen as a template for community activists to open JBJ Soul Kitchens around the country and abroad. The restaurant is based on community restaurants that have appeared in Salt Lake City, Utah and Denver, Colorado.

Wanted Wednesday: Mish-Mosh

Please rise, for the singing of our national anthem...

Today, I'm feeling lazy. It's been lovely-warm here in Beantown, and I've really not felt much like sitting at the computer of late :) But I need my dose of Wanted, and I'm sure you do too, so I've dug out a few of my favorite YouTubes to share today.

Today's about Richie.

There was a blurb floating around about Richie and Ava attending some sort of Memorial Day party over the weekend, and of course, everyone's all a-Twitter about Abby's recent tweet saying all's right in Samboland (there's an amusement park I'd buy a season pass to). Sounds like he's gearing up to go back on the road with the guys (though no official word's been released yet, we in the Fandom go with the it's-true-until-you-tell-us-different philosophy) and we are ALL jazzed about that.  The first show?  Croatia?  Mama what a night that's gonna be.

Here's hoping BJM pays attention to the tweets begging for a live-stream of that night.

Let's Ride!

Richie singing Wanted with a Midnight Rider teaser -- I love those two tunes together...

Featuring the lovely Lorenza Ponce, in 2005

On Arsenio (with a Cher cameo lol), February 1992

And okay, since I couldn't resist... It's not a Richie version, but undeniably one of the best Wanteds you'll ever hear anywhere. Ever.
