The holidays are over, and we have a new chapter for you! Sorry we didn't post it yesterday -- that's my fault. T asked me to give it one more read-through, and by the time I got home, I totally forgot about it.
In any event, they're back "home" at Jon's house, safe and sound -- for now.

Fan Fiction Directory Update
I'm a BAD Goddess.
Richie's Lil Darlin' sent me this WEEKS ago, and I totally spaced on it. I'm so sorry!!
She's got a story, Stranger in this Town
When Kara told Richie goodbye three decades ago, they both thought it would be the end forever. But maybe, just maybe, they'll get a second chance at love.

Out and About
Rolling Stone
Lately, across the 'net, I've seen lots of articles, blurbs, and so forth about Rolling Stone and that Jon has been on the cover twice. No real meat to the articles, just general discussion about the magazine in general. This morning, I came across an article that I agree with whole-heartedly. Give it a read and let me know what you think.
I echo Ms. Coffee -- Where, or where, is Bon Jovi?

Jon Bon Jovi: On the Cover of Rolling StoneNow, there are those who say that Rolling Stone is a "joke"; that it's the MTV of the print world. But, in the whole, Rolling Stone is one of the staples of music lovers just about anywhere.
~ Elizabeth Coffee
Every hardcore fans knows it: Jon Bon Jovi has been on the cover of two issues of Rolling Stone, numbers 500 (May 21, 1987) and 545 (February 9, 1989).
The first one is a headshot: Jon wears a leather jacket which has slipped off of one shoulder; he sports bling on his fingers and around his neck, a furry rug on his chest, and a highlighted mane of hair on his head. The caption declares him a "Hot Throb."
The second one is a full-body shot, Jon clad all in black: pants, sleeveless shirt, and cowboy hat. He is barefoot, and the Superman tattoo on his left arm is prominent. There is no jewelry, but he has the same mane of hair. A white horse behind him intensifies his goth-colored clothing. Whereas in the earlier photo, he was serious, in this one he is smiling. And this time, the caption declares him "Rock's Young Gun" (way before he had any association with the movie).
And after that? Nothing.
In 2010, the following people (among others) appeared on the cover of the US version of the magazine:
John Mayer
Shaun White
Jimi Hendrix
Black-Eyed Peas
cast of Glee
Robert Downey, Jr.
Russell Brand
Jay-Z
Lady Gaga
Leonardo DiCaprio
Where, oh where, is Bon Jovi?
During the first forty years of its publication, Rolling Stone mentioned Bon Jovi in at least 671 articles. In the past decade, the band has been hotter than ever. At the close of the decade, they have the highest-grossing tour in the world.
The magazine has been the pulse of music, politics, and pop culture for the past forty-plus years; for credibility's sake, they need to put Jon Bon Jovi on the cover again--and soon, especially with his recent honor of being appointed to a presidential council. It is long -- very long --overdue.

Bon Jovi Stanford Party
Judging by the shirt Jon was wearing during the most recent Facebook "thanks for following" message, it appears it was taped before performing at Stanford U's Orange Bowl festivities.
There was no listing on the official catalog of events, but really, can you blame them? Could you imagine the mahem that would ensue?
Wonder if Jon was looking irritated because he had to leave the Punt/Pass/Kick event :)
It appears Jon cut his hair again (much to the dismay of some of you, and you know who you are lol), but he is still looking quite fit and trim -- not too much overindulging over the holidays, I guess.

Thanks Kiwi for the YouTube link, and Catte for the screen shots.

Love's The Only Rule
Another gorgeous video from Sydney. To all of the Aussies with the great seats and the fantastic cameras, and the willingness to capture and share the love with the rest of us this time around -- a heartfelt THANK YOU!!

Sex on Legs
Yeah, that pretty much sums up my reaction to this song. But live? In the why-even-bother-with-it tank top? Completely shattering.

Never Say Goodbye
Kiwi, you're killing me here.
This is from Sydney. Simply Gorgeous. My all time, favoritest song of any artist, any genre. I could listen to versions of this song for EVER without getting tired of it (and yes, in fact it WAS my prom song, but I have wicked bad memories of Junior Prom and STILL love this song).
Yep, Goddess is slacking something fierce today. Crap.

This first one (Harlem Rain) was a drop from BlushnScarlett. The other two I found from the same YouTube user txSamboraFan.
I am getting absolutely NOTHING done today...

Resplendent Randomness: Solid Gold
Back in the 80's, we had this totally cheesy TV program called "Solid Gold". It was on Saturdays (I think) and was basically a top-10 countdown show with scantily-clad dancers :) The boys promoted Runaway on the show back in the day. As far as I remember, almost nobody performing on the show did so live -- I think only a few artists were "allowed" to do so.
The costuming and hair make me crack up. I know they HATE the commentary about the hair, but it is what it is.

Resplendent Randomness: Weekly Meeting
Thanks to Kiwi for this inbox drop. This video is from a 1987 PolyGram Records weekly meeting. It was shot for a larger corporate video. Jon Bon Jovi and Tico Torres make an appearance to introduce the new video for "Wanted, Dead or Alive". Tico manages to look cool no matter what, but Jon with the dolman sleeved jacket... Man, the 80's were SUCH a bad decade for fashion rushes off to throw out the Jordache bags and slouch socks hidden in a sack at the waaaaay back of the closet

This Is Our House - Official Video!
Yep, though it seems like FOREVER ago that it was filmed, the release JUST popped. Enjoy!
I just love that most of the NFL commercials I've seen lately use some part of this song, and when it plays as part my beloved New England Patriots touchdown celebrations, it always makes me smile.
The BEST part is turning to the big, grizzled, mountain men in our section and asking them how long they've been Bon Jovi fans, as they sing and dance along :)

Wanted Wednesday: Central Park, July 12, 2008

(sorry it's a little late today)
Please rise, for the singing of our national anthem...
Central Park.
What an adventure.
Back in September, we talked about the "Richie Birthday" Wanted and I promised we'd dig into the CP one a little.
It was a hell of a weekend.
After blowing out my knee in Boston, we made it back to the hotel we were staying at and put a bag of ice on my knee. After a while, I was able to get down to my car (pre-Darlin', I had a Tahoe -- thank goodness for big cars!), and drove my girlfriend back home with me.
The next day, Fiction Mistress, Willow, and BAJG took the train out to close-by-me, and with yet another bag of ice strapped to my knee, we started the long, detour-laden trip to NYC. We detoured to Gillette Stadium to pay a lil bit of homage. We detoured to a McDonald's for a bit of a nosh. We detoured to NJ, though not on purpose. The little bitch in my GPS had me in the wrong lane at a bridge, and instead of getting off the thruway, we got on the bridge. Then we had to pay $7 for the privilege of leaving New Jersey.
SO many experiences around Times Square. There was the albino snake guy (the snake was albino, not the guy) and FM and I tried on the gorgeous, heavy python for a mere $10 apiece. There was the fantastic Italian with the cutest little waitress serving us, and we basically closed down the place. If I recall correctly, we sang Happy Birthday to Richie in the restaurant, though he elected not to join us (lol).
Then there was the park.
I'd never been to Central Park, and had no idea of the vastness of it. I've been to the Public Gardens in Boston, and some of the parks here in and around town, but they're piddly compared to CP. Willow and FM left for the park early to find where the "disabled entrance" was. There was NO way I was going to be able to hobble my way safely up the whole park to be near the stage. Once they were settled, BAJG and I headed over to meet them. We scored spots on the lawn about maybe 25 rows' worth from the stage and planted ourselves there for the duration.
We met some great folks:
- Denver, with her sister and gorgeous denim jacket...
- Angel, the 13-ish year old girl who sprayed us with water to keep us cool...
- Jodi, whose friend decided last second not to go, and absconded with her tickets, so she hung with us...
- Jodi's sweet husband who not only FOUND us on the Lawn, but helped me out when the crowds were jostling...
And there were some pretty funny/sweet moments:
- The mile-long ride snaking to the port-o-lets
- Being stopped by one of the reporters on-site to chat a moment
- Getting a huge bag of ice from one of the drink vendors for my knee
- Finding out about the SOUL win and making impromptu signs (that Jon saw later)
- Waiting about 2 minutes for a TAXI after the concert. 2 minutes. That's it.
And some not-so-great moments, like Willow getting her camera stolen.
But GAH what a show. You could tell, you could just SEE that the guys were so beyond pumped to be playing Central Park. With all the places they've been, and all the things they've done, the excitement in their faces was completely visible, and the energy they gave off was totally palpable.
It was an amazing night, capping off one of the best weekends of my adult life.
Let's Ride!

One Night Only Coming to DVD/BluRay!
At least, that's what this website is reporting. March 11, to be exact. Not sure if it's true or not, but damn, that'd be awesome!
Remember, it's all rumor until you see it on bonjovi.com.

No, the song is "Any Other Girl", but the band (and the reaction to Richie's bedazzled shirt) is Mercy. One of the first bands Richie was part of, if not the first.
