December 17: Sydney Football Stadium (Sydney)

The band, who was interviewed by Australia's Herald Sun is excited about the trip:
"We're back on the road, doing it, and all is going well," frontman Jon Bon Jovi said.

"We built our reputation on being a live band. It took three albums to break and 500 shows to build a foundation around globe.

"Now, we're on the most upper echelon of what a touring band is.

"We can't wait to bring that to Australia."

Bon Jovi Fatheads!

No, no, don't get all excited. They haven't marketed those yet, though if they do, that's one idea off the BJM resume I'm putting together :)

No, this is something (I'm pretty sure) you can do on your own.

What is a Fathead, you ask?

Lemme tell you.

Well, let me let the website tell you.
Fathead changes everything.

Fathead is passion. Your passion expressed as a life-size, hi-def, action image.

Fathead transforms. Enhance any décor in mere minutes.

Fathead is smart. Moveable and safe for walls, they never lose adhesion.

Fathead lasts. Constructed of durable vinyl that never tears or fades.

Fathead is easy. Just peel, stick and enjoy.
Yeah, you say, but that doesn't help.

Fatheads, in short, are these glorious up-to-life-sized vinyl decals you can stick to your walls. Up until recently, you [men] could adorn your Man Cave with life-sized in-action shots of your favorite sports stars.

Your son could have full-size, HD-quality Spongebob Squarepants on his walls, or your little princess could have Tinkerbell hovering over her bed.

Now, dear devotees, I believe you can, for a mere $140, could have a four foot wide, six-and-a-half-foot tall JOVI of your very own.

It's simple.

Go to this website.

Upload your favorite picture.

Give them your credit card number.

PRESTO! Jovis in your house.

I don't know what (if anything) they do in terms of trademarked images, etc., but for the sake of argument, let's say that this would totally work.  They would absolutely make you a (buncha) Bon Jovi Fathead(s).  I would think that as long as you owned the photo, it should be fine, right?

Now, you may say that's an awful lot of money for wall decorations. Considering some of you spent $1875 for a folding chair, I don't think you should be saying anything about my little slice of vinyl heaven. Yeah you got a show, blah-blah-blah, but for the same money, look at what you can get:

For $840, you could get the ENTIRE on-stage band (including Huey and Bobby)

For $67 you can get a set of FOUR folding chairs from Walmart

For $140 you can get 4 Fathead Laptop Skins and turn them into Bon Jovi folding chairs.

Are you keeping track?

That still leaves more than $800 for a ticket, so you can still get a show.

Then you get to go home from the show, and look at the Jovis you have artfully arranged next to, across from, and over your bed. Tell me that isn't worth it?

Now some of you, like me, are married to men who not only don't understand the Jovi love, but gave the big ol' thumbs down when you saw the advertisement for Fathead on TV and said "Oooh!"

 Never fear.

I have a plan.

Call your best girlfriend. Send her some money. Have her "buy you one for your birthday" (or Christmas, Halloween, Hanukkah, Arbor Day, National Ice Cream Day, Festivus, whatever).

Yeah? I don't see a down-side to that, either.

I don't know a husband on the planet -- one that wants to have sex with his wife at least once more -- that will make said wife give back a gift from her girlfriends.

Think about it.

I'm lining up my girls now.

I turn 40 this year. What better way to celebrate that milestone with a life-sized Richie of my very own? Other than having REAL Richie come to my birthday dinner (or be my birthday dinner) that is....

But I have wandered off on a tangent.

Fatheads.

That's all you have to remember.

That, and that I share a birthday with the Ex Mrs. Sambora.

Fun Richie Article

Richie sat down with TNT Magazine, and spoke about (among other things) the excess of the 80's:

In interviews, you and Jon always allude to the wild times you had in the ’80s. But how wild are we talking – groupies queuing around the block?
The best way I can put it is, think of the wildest stuff you’ve ever done and times it by 100, and that was my daily consumption.

We were young and riding the rocket ship to fame and stardom, and rock ’n’ roll was a different animal back then. That period finished for us when the grunge era entered. Rock ’n’ roll shifted. Aids came around so women weren’t as promiscuous as they were back in the ’80s.

It was good fun stuff. I don’t really have any regrets … We didn’t get so out there – we weren’t doing heroin, all that kind of stuff. But we had our share of consumption of other intoxicants and we had a good time with the ladies.

It was a really fun read.

The Soul is BACK!

(but without JonBon)

The Philadelphia Soul is making a return engagement, but will be without its famous frontman.

The Daily News has learned that Arena Football will return to Philadelphia next spring with Ron Jaworski and Craig Spencer leading the franchise and Jon Bon Jovi on the sidelines.

“We are bringing back to our incredible fans the most exciting, fan-friendly and affordable brand of football in America,” said Jaworski, an original owner and current ESPN Monday Night Football broadcaster. “My partners and I are committed to putting together a championship team for this great city to be proud of.”

A formal announcement is scheduled for Wednesday.

And here is the announcement of Best Musical.

There are a bunch more pictures up in my PB (thanks, Catte) but this is one of my faves -- some screen caps (hers and mine) of David's exuberance as he joins the cast on stage to sing out the Tony's.

Now, David's gotta get his ass back to Europe; Jeff K, no offense, babe, but you do not style the accordion like our David...

Three Awards So Far...

Bon Jovi bandmate David Bryan picked up two Tonys in quick succession as he won both the orchestration award and the score race. He shared the first with Daryl Waters edging out among others grand slam champ Jonathan Tunick ("Promises, Promises").

His Tony bookend for score is shared with co-lyricist Joe DiPietro. The score category was missing several of the musical maestros behind this season's contenders for the top award. The Tony Awards require nominated scores to have at least 50% original material. That ruled out both "American Idiot" and "Fela!"

DiPietro got his own matching Tony when he won the book prize. In his wry acceptance speech, he mentioned the New York Times which did not believe he was the front-runner in this race. However, all but three of our panel of pundits predicted him to win this award.

David (& Joe lol) we are SO proud of you. We knew you could do it!! Bring on the rest of the awards!!
