Characters Unite: Full Video

It's up.  It's here.

It's 810MB !!

According to Catte, it's also edited.  IRL it was right around 2:20, this is about 1:56.

BUT, it's out there on the SkyDrive.  There are 18 parts to the zip file.  I tried rapidshare, mediafire, and megaupload, and ALL of them gave me troubles.  Must be because it's late lol

In any event, it's there.  Let me know if there are any issues.

A Little Richie Before Christmas?

According to this site, Richie will be part of The Mark and Brian Christmas Show on December 16th. Jason Bonham (the new drummer for LedZep) recently did an interview on Mark and Brian's Los Angeles morning show when he was promoting some recent gigs in California. Now he's said to be returning to KLOS to perform in the Mark & Brian All-Star Band.

Headlining the event are Heart, Foreigner, Richie Sambora, and Matt Nathanson (TARA!!).

The Mark and Brian All-Star Band will also performed and is so far said to include Slash and Bonham with Keith Emerson, Steve Lukather, Marc Bonilla and a "still yet to be named lead singer."

Also appearing are William Shatner, Luke Perry, and comedian Greg Behrendt.

To purchase tickets, try on Ticketmaster or see the KLOS Web site for contests.

I checked out TM, and you can still get Orchestra seats, and they're pretty reasonably priced (< $100 USD)

I also entered the contest on the radio's website for free tickets. Mr. Hath will have a stroke if I win ;)

What really made me laugh was that these tickets weren't the main prize. A year's worth of gas is the main prize; these tickets are consolation prizes.

Say Thank You

Thanks, Q, for posting this today.

XEROX IS DOING SOMETHING COOL AGAIN THIS YEAR!

If you go to this web site, Lets Say Thanks, you can pick out a Thank You card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to military personnel currently serving overseas.

You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services. How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!!

It is FREE and it only takes a few seconds.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if these patriots received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our military needs to know we are behind them especially as the holidays near and they are so far away from home.

Please take the time and pass it on for others to do. We can never say enough Thank You's.

I thank you for taking the time to support our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Guardsmen!

David on Today

Yesterday, David was on Today with the cast from Memphis, who performed the song "Steal Your Rock and Roll". Great performance.

David on the Today Show: I've got the video and MP3 rip up on the MediaFire.

Thanks to Devotee L in Florida for sending this to me! (and to answer your question, I'll answer to either lol)

Another "Characters Unite" Post

First, Catte has posted about her experience with Jon. It's a great story, and will have you smiling as you experience the event vicariously through here eyes.

Next, I've got more pictures for you.

Thirdly, here is an article from the Washington Examiner.

Rock on: Bon Jovi sees himself as ambassador of optimism

Rockers tend to be "blue state" singers, country-western artists are "red state" singers, and rappers handle our urban regions, according to veteran anchorman Tom Brokaw.

At USA Network's national town hall "Characters Unite" Wednesday, moderator Brokaw asked Jon Bon Jovi where the artist stood on his responsibility when promoting cultural divides in pop culture.

"I've taken a certain point of view that I've always taken on ... this unbridled optimism in a strange way," Bon Jovi said before a diverse panel including Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Calif., Politico's Mike Allen, Newark, N.J. Mayor Cory Booker, Rep. Anh Cao, R-La., Georgetown professor Michael Eric Dyson, the Washington Post's Kathleen Parker and D.C. Public Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee.

Bon Jovi said he saw himself as an ambassador for American pop culture when he traveled abroad, and he said he believed anti-American sentiment has come back again in the past decade.

His "unbridled optimism" defies borders and cultures, he said.

"They don't see color, and I find that very interesting," he said, reflecting on his four children. "Maybe my kids are unique, but what I'm hoping for is that the next generation are going to be much more understanding of the racial divide of the economic divide that we are living right now."

Finally, according to the passtheball website (where the session was webcast) it will be up for viewing at some point.

OK, that's it for now on this rainy, dreary Monday.

Have a good one, people!

Tico!

Reminder of Tico's show this weekend!

Cuban Fine Artist & Bon Jovi Drummer Exhibits in Miami During Art Basel

Tico Torres' wide-ranging talent takes on Miami with an unprecedented retrospective of his fine art.

Since the age of five, Tico Torres has been expressing himself in art as well as in music capturing his feelings and everyday life experiences in paintings, watercolors, sculpture and ceramics. Born to Cuban parents, Torres lived in Varadero, Cuba, where he was surrounded by sights, sounds, history, and heritage. As an accomplished, internationally known drummer with the world's most beloved rock band, Bon Jovi, Tico approaches his art with the same intensity and passion as he does music.

Tico delights in sharing the places that he has seen and the people that he has met through his artwork. His first solo show in Soho, New York was critically acclaimed and an enormous success with over half of the collection sold in just one evening. Since that time, Torres has received rave reviews and requests for shows all over the world. His demanding touring and recording schedule leaves very few opportunities for art enthusiasts to view and collect his powerful artwork.

This rare exhibition is not to be missed and promises to be the must see show during the Art Basel season.

There is an after party celebration following the official reception.

Rock The House Saturdays proudly presents an exclusive Art Basel Afterparty celebration for Tico Torres "Many Faces" at Louis Bar-Lounge on Miami Beach. Featuring sounds by resident Sub Zero.

Not sure if The Artist will attend or not.

Why We Love Richie

These two Access Hollywood videos.

The first is Richie accompanying Kelly home from the hospital. He put up some of his own money to help redo her room with the equipment she'd need, and install ramps, etc., so she can get around in her chair. He was just so sweet with her, and you can tell that he's spent lots of time with Kelly and her family because they are all so comfortable with him (and he with them -- he took off his sunglasses lol)

The second is Richie and Ava at the Twilight: New Moon premier. I know there are lots of vids that have been out and about with respect to this, but I can't help but pass this one along. He's clearly totally in love with his daughter. It's a beautiful thing to see.

Rich, honey, just two more reasons we love ya, babe.

Not The Critics' Darlings...

... but maybe this is the year!

I'll admit, when I first saw this, I thought it was a hoax because "Sara Smile" was released off of Hall & Oats' first record (in 1976, I think) and the articles I saw didn't mention it was from a live show.

Anyone know if the guys will be there? The 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, and broadcast on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

JonBon in DC Today

Yes, he did have a furrowed brow the whole time.

When the webcast was over, they grayed out the screen, but didn't turn off the audio.  You could hear Jon, plain as day, saying he was nervous as hell and hoped he didn't embarrass himself too badly.

No, Brother Bongiovi, you did just fine.

Characters Unite: National Town Hall

You may remember that this event was today. Hope you did, it was fairly interesting. I'm sure you'll get a full reporting from our own Catte Sambora later, because she was there!

She had seats in the 3rd row, directly in front of Jon. She was on-screen asking a question of the panel, and sparked some great discussion -- she can give you the details.

Afterwards, on the way to the luncheon (for which she also had a pass) Dorothea took a picture of her and Jon together. Catte and Jon chatted for a few minute and she's over the MOON!

Here are a few (admittedly really crappy) screen caps from my work PC. If/when USA posts this somewhere, I'm sure we'll get it, and better shots can be taken.

Chris Carrabba and company will open for Jon Bon and company from February through April.

Dashboard Confessional are out in support of their new album, Alter The Ending, while Bon Jovi are touring behind their recently released 11th studio album, The Circle.

November...

...I'll give thanks that you belong to me

There is NOTHING quite like a JB-and-Rich-sharing-the-mic picture to put a smile on my face. I love how they aren't afraid to get up in each other's faces like that.

I believe we're all a bit thankful for the joy these men have brought us over the years.

I am thankful for so many memories that were either the direct result of the boys, or enhanced by their music.

I'm thankful for the friends I have made through the shared love of the band. Men and women I wouldn't have known had I never fallen in love with their music.

I'm thankful for Mr. Hath's tolerance in my obsession with most things Jovi :o) He really doesn't get it, but tries to accept that I get it, and tries to let me alone with it.

If I'm allowed to be shallow and selfish for a moment, I must admit, I'm thankful for the lusty thoughts these guys have put in my head that have translated into stories that I've been lucky enough to share with you. They've opened up a font of creativity I didn't know I had in me. As I write this in September, I have started the next step in my writing life, and am working on an erotic short for publication. I NEVER would have even considered this had it not been for these men coming into my life, and for the support and guidance from you, my dear readers.

My very first Jovi concert (HAND Tour, Foxboro), brought me closer to my sister-in-law than we had ever been before.

My stops along the Lost Highway (Newark, Uncasville, Boston, Central Park) brought so many new people into my life! Mary, who I met at the train station on the way from Boston to Newark; Willow, Fiction Mistress, Big Apple Jovi Girl, Trish, and a whole bunch more in Boston (not to mention the best pizza ever); Denver with the kick-ass denim jacket along with Jodi and her lovely husband at CP... it's just amazing. And those are just the folks I've met in person at shows! We gathered more than 50 fans at Chicky and Pete's in February, and I met so many people, got to spend some quality time with Stephanie and TaraLeigh. I cyber-met Terri and Mys who I've spoken to on the phone more times than I can count; and so many more, I'd hurt feelings if I tried to list them all out and forgot anyone

And those are only the Jovi-related things I have to be thankful for.

So yeah, I'm thankful they belong to me and to you. That we share a love for the best damned band I've ever seen.

October...

... Romeo and Juliet on Halloween

OK, so remember, I did warn you that not all these captions would make sense, but as I'm anal, I had to continue through with them...

I'm so glad Teek got his own page. I think he's the unsung hero of the band. Not only is he the voice of reason, which we've heard time and again in interviews and in the documentary -- how he's the sane one more often than not -- but he also provides the heartbeat of the band.

I mean, when Jon calls out "Tico, gimme the big beat, baby", you just HAVE to smile. You know Tico is going to bang the hell out of his drum kit, and you're going to feel it all the way to your toes.

Look at his smile. Does he NOT love what he does? The man has his own set of goofy faces too that let you know that he's totally into the moment (or they're to keep his mind off the fact that yet again, he's stuck looking at Jon's ass. Somehow I don't think he appreciates it as much as we do...).

Tico's said in interviews that he loves it when the audience sings and dances and looks like they're having a great time. Let's give the man what he loves!

And Tico, honey, I haven't forgotten that I owe you a birthday story -- although at this rate, you'll get it for Christmas. It's coming, though. I promise.
