Remember these? The "welcome", "goodbye" and "gotmail" messages Jon did for AOL a zillion years ago? Devotee 'T' stumbled across them on her hard drive, and thought they'd be fun to share.

Call To Action: BravoTV
One of the boards I subscribe to posted this call to action; I'm passing it along under the heading, "It can't hurt to ask..."
Hi everyone,
There's a 'campaign', for want of a better word, doing the rounds in the Jovi community. They're encouraging fans to email Bravo and ask that they release the full uncut interview (all 3-4 hours) on DVD for posterity.
I've sent in my request, as have many others. Can't hurt to try. :) They're also asking if you can pass the link amongst the rest of your Jovi friends, i.e. on Facebook, other lists and websites you' may be a member of etc. If there's enough demand it may just happen and all it will have taken is a few minutes of your time.
Thanks!

MSG DVD Site
Thanks, Catte, for keeping me in the loop. This was Tweeted, but it pointed at a Facebook link that's blocked where I work. This site has the video excerpts, photos, and other information about the MSG DVD.
Nope, still no US release date listed.
How hard would it be to buy a DVD player on a UK online site and get it working here in the US? Then we could always get things when they come out, and not have to wait!!
Anyway, I digress. Catte also did the heavy lifting and screen capped the gallery photos from the website. Thanks!!
Enjoy!

It's Getting To Be That Time Of Year
I promised myself I wouldn't do ANYTHING Christmas related (except shopping) until after Thanksgiving, but I simply couldn't resist this. Suppose this is Dorothea's least favorite Christmas song ever?
I mean, I swear, no twinkle lights, no carols on the radio (though I have my presets ready for my satellite radio) and absolutely NO Christmas cookies yet.
But this video? Hell I get cravings for this all year 'round :)

Richie Gives Back
If you ever played high school sports, you know the feeling. You still can remember your uniform number, the names of all your teammates, the thrill of the big victory or the pain of the playoff loss. No matter where life takes you, the connection to your high school sports is both unbreakable and irreplaceable.
For Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, the pull of that decades-ago experience was enough to get him back involved with his former high school, where as a junior, he once helped Woodbridge High win a Group 4 State title.
"I had a lot of fun in high school and look fondly at those days and high school athletics," Sambora said recently by phone. "What I learned has touched me for the rest of my life. It even helped me in the band. We all have a role to play. We all protect the quarterback."
Jon Bon Jovi, who is busy these days promoting a new album "The Circle," might be the quarterback of the band, but Sambora is the MVP for a young lady from Woodbridge.
Recently, Sambora called on his athletic roots and donated the money to rebuild Woodbridge High’s ancient weight room, a new facility he named in memory of his deceased father.
Then Sambora turned that connection into something even bigger, something to help a young girl in need of medical, financial and community support.
After reconnecting with Woodbridge, he learned about the plight of Kelly Mahon. Mahon was diagnosed with a brain tumor during her senior year of high school and two years later, she remains hospitalized.
Sambora initiated a fund-raising drive that has raised more than $75,000 so far. The drive continues in the hope of renovating the family’s house so that Kelly can go home. That is the inspiration for the Web site www.youcangohome.com, where fund-raising information can be found.
"That’s my alma mater — I felt I had to do something," Sambora said.
"It’s really about involving kids and anybody. Wherever you are, you can go back to the community and help."

I Love Rike
OK, so since Rike tweeted this link earlier today, I've been TOTALLY distracted in a COMPLETELY good way.
Oh, and I love TaraLeigh for posting this to YouTube.
There are comments in the vid about "*sigh* wish he'd do those long intros more often". I think it was the MusicRadar interview last year where someone asked the question, why doesn't he do the long intros anymore.
His answer made me laugh. "Do you know how many notes I play a night?" lol
Still, it makes me wish I was a concert goer "back in the day". Though in 1993 I was in grad school and engaged to someone (who is not the current Mr. Hath) and had NO job to speak of, so that woulda been kind of tough.
If you need to have this vid for your very own, or want the MP3 for your iPod, I'll put them up on the SkyDrive.

JonBon Wouldn't Survive on Idol
In more than a quarter of a century of rocking, Jon Bon Jovi has seen all of the music industry's well-publicized changes. So what does he see to be among the biggest differences? "It's very hard. Radio is fragmented," he tells Spinner. "There was Top 40 radio and DJs could be influential and you could make a career out of Philadelphia or Cleveland and you built to Chicago and all points west and north. That doesn't necessarily exist."
So are today's artists at a disadvantage? "You got a poor kid that wins 'American Idol' and then he's expected to be on the same level or playing field as the Rolling Stones or U2 or Bon Jovi the next day. That's not fair," Bon Jovi says. "We were allowed to have the third album be the one that was the breakthrough record. I don't know if a kid these days is ever gonna break 100 million in album sales. I don't think that's ever gonna happen again."
So how does an artist make it today? Is it better to ride around in a van from town to town or do 'Idol?' "Well, both of them are good launch pads. Getting in the van, deciding who and what you are -- there's nothing wrong with that," he says. But for those who win 'Idol,' it's still ultimately about the music. "Of you're brave enough to go on and win one of those 'Idol' contests, ultimately you better have the songs to back it up," he says. "Chris Daughtry has delivered songs on two albums in a row. But I'm sure there are 10 Idols I can think of that didn't do that or had a flash in the pan."
Still, he has a lot of respect for those that go through the 'Idol' process. "It's a very difficult spotlight to be in and a microscope to be under," he says. "I couldn't have survived it to be honest with you."

Characters Unite National Town Hall
USA NETWORK AND TOM BROKAW TO CO-HOST FIRST-EVER CHARACTERS UNITE NATIONAL TOWN HALL ON HEALING AMERICA’S DIVISIONS
USA Network and Tom Brokaw announced today the first-ever Characters Unite National Town Hall, a ground-breaking high-level discussion on how America’s increasingly diverse and divided population can find common ground on today’s complex social issues. Inspired by USA Network’s community affairs campaign – Characters Unite -- this event will bring together a diverse panel of distinguished leaders to generate fresh ideas for actions by individuals, communities and government to overcome social injustices and bridge cultural divides. Tom Brokaw, NBC News Special Correspondent, will moderate the panel at the Newseum in Washington, DC, on December 2.
Confirmed Town Hall participants include:
Actor DulĂ© Hill, co-star of USA Network’s “Psych” will also be a special guest in attendance.
"It's time to get past the labeling. We're all different, and we all bring something unique to the table," said Bonnie Hammer, president, NBCU Cable Entertainment and Universal Cable Productions. "We need our differences to unite us, not drive us apart."
"People across the country are making tough decisions every day and working to maintain their own unique American character. Too often, instead of coming together to address conflicts, groups demonize each other because of their different beliefs and opinions," said Tom Brokaw, NBC News Special Correspondent.
During the Characters Unite Town Hall, Brokaw will preview his new documentary, American Character Along Highway 50, produced by Peacock Productions, set to premiere on USA Network on Martin Luther King Day, January 18, 2010. The film follows Brokaw’s journey at a pivotal point in our country’s history as he travels across legendary US Highway 50 discovering how Americans are fairing during these extraordinary times, immersing himself in the lives of ordinary and extraordinary people to reveal uniquely American stories of hardship, survival and hope.
“Tom Brokaw’s upcoming documentary makes him the ideal moderator for this conversation,” said Hammer. “We’re confident that he will steer the Town Hall toward fresh ideas for individual and collective actions aimed at bringing all of us, with the combined strength of our diversity, together.”
In conjunction with the Town Hall, USA Network will announce the results of a new Characters Unite national opinion poll, the United or Divided Survey, which will provide an in-depth profile of American attitudes on prejudice, discrimination and intolerance. The nationally representative poll is being conducted by two of America's leading public opinion research firms representing both sides of the political aisle -- Hart Research Associates (D) and Public Opinion Strategies (R). The survey will examine how Americans view the social trends that are transforming the nation, and will look across generations, race, ethnicity and gender at how change is affecting our country’s social fabric.
In partnership with Charter and Comcast, high schools across the country will have the opportunity to submit questions for the panel and five students will win a trip to Washington, DC, to attend the Town Hall event.
Cisco Webex Solutions will serve as the technology partner for the Characters Unite National Town Hall. The event will be webcast live for free, and viewers may register in advance at www.passtheball.com.
Following the Town Hall, the first Characters Unite Award will be presented to an individual who has made a significant and lasting difference in efforts to fight discrimination, champion civil rights and promote respect. The honoree will be profiled on charactersunite.com and receive a $10,000 grant to support his/her project or nonprofit organization. Nominations for the award are being made by the Characters Unite campaign’s 20 non-governmental partners, which include the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, the American Association of People with Disabilities, the National Parent Teacher Association, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, the National Council of La Raza, GLAAD, National Council of Women’s Organizations, American Federation of Teachers, Anti-Defamation League, American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, Asian American Justice Center, Children’s Defense Fund, General Board of Church & Society of The United Methodist Church, Human Rights Campaign, Human Rights First, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, National Association of Counties, National Congress of American Indians, National Education Association and Southern Poverty Law Center.
Thanks, Catte!

Bon Jovi Eyeing Hall Of Fame Honor
Bon Jovi frontman Jon Bon Jovi is campaigning for his band to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - insisting the rockers deserve to be honored next to Elvis and The Beatles.
The "Livin' On a Prayer" hitmakers have been rocking for 26 years, and were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame just last June.
But now Jovi insists it's time the band is recognized as rock royalty with music's highest honor.
He says, "I would really like to be. I intend to be, because, in all honestly, I would like to be a part of Elvis and the Beatles and The (Rolling) Stones' history. We've sold a lot of records and influenced another generation of fans, and the music has got staying power."

A Few Questions With JonBon
The singer, philanthropist and father got real and sang his favorite songs, including “Dead or Alive,” “Livin’ on a Prayer” and his new hit, “Superman.” Jon shared his insights on writing with best friend and business partner Richie Sambora and many very personal moments with us.
On similarities between Bon Jovi and The Beatles:
“Paul would write a song and John would put his name on it, John would write a song and Paul would put his name on it and sometimes they wrote together. Richie and I sit down together. We both play the chords, figure out the words and come up with titles. Bono and The Edge’s writing style seems to be more similar to ours. Maybe it’s my Irish envy, I want to be Irish when I grow up!”
Jon on writing with Richie Sambora, his best friend for 26 years:
“There’s a deep seated bond that can never be broken. When I mumble and look for a word – that’s the way Richie and I write. We don’t have to finish each other’s sentences at this point.”
On embarking on their 10th tour, 25 years after they started:
“I refer to this tour as a gentlemen’s tour. We don’t go out for 240 shows nonstop. You do 20 shows, you take a couple weeks off, you do 20 shows, you take a month off. It’s pretty civilized. Now, we all have places to go instead of hotel rooms. We all have families, things to do and lives that are running parallel.”
On his new documentary film “When We Were Beautiful”:
“I wasn’t going to candy coat this film. I think I can dunk, like I’m 6’5”, but I’m not! You think you walk and talk and act a certain way but I don’t and that’s what the movie is all about. It is showing life with all it’s warts.”
On philanthropy:
“My upbringing, where I was brought up, when I was brought up and traveling the world for a quarter of a century. In a strange way we’ve been ambassadors of American pop culture in far off lands. We’ve been a part of people’s lives and you know how good you’ve got it here. (In the US.)”
On his favorite song Bon Jovi ever made:
“We’ve written a lot of songs that have touched people but “Livin’ on a Prayer” will probably be right up there, that would be high on my list. I don’t know - I’m not writing my epiteph, yet!”
If you haven't seen/watched the Amex JBJ and Friends show, there's videos and MP3s up on the BJCT blog.

Top of the Charts!
WORLDWIDE SINGLE “WE WEREN’T BORN TO FOLLOW” LEADS TO #1 ALBUM DEBUTS IN CANADA, JAPAN AND GERMANY – #2 DEBUT IN UK (November 18, 2009 – New York, NY)
Legendary Island Records group Bon Jovi caps the celebration of their 25th year on record with a second consecutive #1 Soundscan debut – as their 11th studio album THE CIRCLE (released November 10th) sails into the top spot on first week sales of 163,000 copies.
“Coming after their #1-selling tour of last year, this #1 chart debut for Bon Jovi once again proves they have a loyal fan base that transcends every change in popular music,” said Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group. “After two and a half decades of uninterrupted success, Bon Jovi continues to stay at the top of their game, with no signs of slowing down.”
The new album’s success – which include #1 chart debuts in Canada, Japan and Germany, and a #2 debut in the UK – is fueled by the band’s current worldwide single, “We Weren’t Born To Follow.” Bon Jovi performed the song live at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate on November 9th, at the gala 20th anniversary commemoration of the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. The perform¬ance was underscored by their appearance on the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. “We Weren’t Born To Follow” stays inside the Top 10 at Hot AC radio formats, and the video is in its 4th week on the VH1 Top 20 Countdown.
Bon Jovi’s appearance in Berlin capped two weeks of international promotion in advance of THE CIRCLE’s arrival. On Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11th, the day after the album’s U.S. release, NBC Television “Artists-In-Residence” Bon Jovi performed live at the Today Show’s Rockefeller Plaza. Two days later on Friday the 13th, Bon Jovi launched the opening of the new Best Buy store on Union Square in Manhattan. Upcoming live TV performances include: Bravo’s Inside The Actors Studio with James Lipton (Nov. 16); Ellen DeGeneres (Nov. 23); NBC’s The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien (Nov. 20); a return to the Today Show (Nov. 25); Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (Dec. 9); and Saturday Night Live (Dec. 12).
“We Weren’t Born To Follow” was written (and co-produced) by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, and was produced by John Shanks, who worked with Bon Jovi on their last two albums: Have A Nice Day (2005), which featured the Grammy winning single, “Who Says You Can’t Go Home”; and Lost Highway (2007), which debuted at #1 on the Soundscan charts in the U.S. and around the world.
Bon Jovi’s 25 years on record is chronicled this year in filmmaker and photo¬grapher Phil Griffin’s documentary film Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful (produced by Radical Media); and the publication of its companion book, Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful, the first ever officially authorized Bon Jovi book (HarperCollins, October 2009).
Bon Jovi’s “The Circle World Tour,” promoted by AEG Live, will kick off in Seattle on February 19, 2010. Over the next two years, the band will visit 30 countries for 135 shows. Bon Jovi’s last outing, the “Lost Highway World Tour,” was 2008’s top-grossing tour. Tickets for “The Circle World Tour” are on sale now for all North American concerts – information can be found at http://www.bonjovi.com/tour.
After reading this, I received a tweet from @BonJovi that says that the album is #1 on the US charts as well.
Way to go, guys!

Thank GOD I'm safe!!
From Jon's own pretty, pretty mouth:
I'll say it again: Thank GOD.

He doesn’t read his press. “I don’t read the blogs and I don’t read the fan pages, I don’t read any of that stuff on purpose. You guys would be telling me, ‘I don’t like your shoes.’ I’d be very self conscious because I like those shoes ... The truth is, if I’m ever going to say something, I can’t let it be based on what other people want me to say. After the first two records, we really, truly realized that the best thing to do was be us, come home, don’t chase anybody else, do your own thing.”The rest of the article can be found here.
I'll say it again: Thank GOD.

Richie Interviews
Zap2It (from last night's Twilight Premier)
He had theories about rock stars and vampires, about the appeal of the "Twilight" romance, and Eva admitted that she was Team Jacob.
This is another one, from November 6, about The Circle.
Thanks J for letting me know about the French one :)

Classic Rock Magazine
Thanks to Michi for scanning, and devotee "T" for passing these along....This has GOT to be one of the hottest pictures I've seen of HRH in some time. I mean just GASP!
The other scan shot is the article from the magazine.
Words? There are words? I'm still wishing this was a motion-gif so I could see him spin that microphone...
In the article, it says the band finished 16 songs for the album so there are still 4 freakin b-sides somewhere. WHERE ARE THEY!?!?!
GIMME!

Someone asked what the titles mean...
"Steph's Dad" was the reaction to the question "How'd you feel about Stephanie dating a man like her dad?" lol
"Monkey" is just the look on his face. I mean c'mon, he looks like an alpha male gorilla there, no?
"Inner Sinatra" is, well, look at it. If that's a martini, that could TOTALLY be a picture of Ol' Blue Eyes...
JBJ and Friends
I've got the YouTube links up on the Bon Jovi Circle Tour blog, and the vid/mp3 rips will be up tonight.
Check the BJCT blog often for updates on photos, reviews, etc.

Richie Interview
It’s a rock’n’roll record, it’s a great evolution. We’re really proud of it.
How has the industry changed since you started?
It’s completely changed. It’s all about music-sharing now. Kids are more into video games these days. When I first started in the business there wasn’t this video game craze and the internet wasn’t around. If you pay for the downloading, that’s cool, but what do you constitute as sharing or stealing? For an established band like us it doesn’t make much difference – we make revenue playing live – but if you’re a new band trying to establish your business, surviving financially without record revenue is tough.
ou broke your shoulder two years ago after slipping on a rug. Did it jeopardise your career?
No, but I broke it in three places. An old blues hero of mine, Albert Collins, would sling his strap over his right shoulder, so I copied him. I had to play 22 stadiums two weeks after breaking the shoulder and I didn’t want to cheat the people out of a good show or let down my band mates so I did that, along with physical therapy. I listen to those tapes now and I was still 95 per cent in the ballpark.
What’s the craziest thing a fan did to meet you?
They did all sorts of things, they’d come to the house dressed as pizza delivery drivers or strippergrams. One time I was home and there were fans on my roof. I went outside with a baseball bat, I thought they were burglars, I went out there ready to kick some ass.
What would have been your alternative career if music hadn’t worked out?
I did psychology at university but I’m not sure if that would have panned out. I knew I’d work in music from the age of 16. I didn’t have an alternative. I was determined to make it in this industry. Before Bon Jovi I had three failed record deals.
What’s been your worst job?
I worked as a cleaner in a hospital. That was pretty bad, cleaning up blood, pee and puke. I left when I had made enough money to buy a Les Paul guitar. That enabled me to play clubs with a band as a professional guitarist.
What have been the highlights of your career?
Having our first No.1 record was a highlight and we’ve been lucky enough to have a lot of them. Other things like playing Wembley Stadium was a huge highlight. Making new records is always good too. Having my daughter was a highlight.
You stick a tube in your mouth every night to blow into an effects pedal for Livin’ On A Prayer. Does it mess your teeth up?
It hasn’t so far, but it certainly rattles them around a lot. They haven’t fallen out yet. I only use it for a couple of minutes a day.
Metallica’s James Heatfield had ‘Kill Bon Jovi’ written on his guitar. That was quite rude...
Yes, but he was nice to me when I met him. I had no problem with him. That was just a reflection of what Metallica were about at the time. They’ve mellowed out completely since then.
Were you worried when grunge kicked off? It was a backlash to hair metal at the time.
We just remained ourselves. Like us or not like us, no matter what you think, we’ve maintained a career without chasing anyone else’s trend. We’ve done quite well from it.
What’s been your most extravagant purchase?
I’m not too extravagant. I have a couple of nice cars, a Ferrari. I’ve spent some money on guitars too but I trade them in. I haven’t spent a fortune. My favourite is still my 1959 Les Paul.
