PS: No, I haven't forgotten about Hath and David, or Angel and Richie. Or even the Jen from Photographer. It's just that real life has been taking too much of my attention, and with the holidays looming, it's been easier to polish something that was already written than to try to write something new.

I promise, though, those stories will get attention, just not right now. Thanks for understanding.

I Love my iPod

I have more than 4,000 Jovi songs on my iPod. In fact, I call it my JoviPod. I read something today that made me a happy Goddess:

New company allows iPod individuality
By Tom Marine
The Daily Reflector

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Apple iPods soon maybe used for more than storing music and videos.

They may become a new symbol of individuality with custom-designed laser etchings expressing the creativity — or devotion — of their users.

For local businessman Wiley Corbett, that is the plan of his new business venture — Appeal LLC.

Corbett is launching his business next week, as he says, to provide a new graphical user interface for individual expression. For $25, his company will engrave an iPod with the owner's design of choice.

“We're empowering people to do something that they have never been able to do,” Corbett said. “We've taken things that previously couldn't be customized and done that.”

To help with the launch of his new company, Corbett said, Bon Jovi has agreed to a licensing agreement that will allow fans to put the band's logo on their iPods. He said the band has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, making it a prime candidate to market with his business.

“The reason we approached (Bon Jovi), we wanted a band that exemplified what American music is all about,” he said. “Their music is loved and beloved.”

Corbett said he is starting with musicians because of their direct link to iPods. However, he said, it's not just the music industry that he is trying to add.

Professional sports teams, NASCAR and collegiate teams, including East Carolina University, could soon be available for iPod engravings.

Som not only is Mr. Corbett embarking on a venture that will have millions of fans of bands, NASCAR, and sports teams cheering, he also, by virtue of his comments about Bon Jovi, must be one hell of smart man ;)

I for one can't wait until his company launches, and will keep an eye out for the launch!! I know, I know, there are companies out there that already do this (ETCHSTAR.com comes to mind) but hey, they don't have the Jovi logo licensed, do they?

The Holdiays Are Coming...

... whether we want them to or not.

My XM Satellite Radio has its Christmas channel up and running. Don't get me wrong; I love the holidays as much as the next girl. We decorate the house to the nines, complete with holiday carousel and flashing train out front, next to inflatable Santa, snowmen, and twinkle lights. The house is done up with lit boughs of pine roping twined around the loft railing, an 8' tall tree with more decorations on it than a display at Macy's, and Christmas Village scenes set on every available flat surface. We do the whole Christmas dishes thing, and the house is always scented with pine or bayberry candles.

I love Christmas.

But it's November.

I haven't even gotten my turkey yet -- we pick it up from the turkey farm on Tuesday. We have the apple pie and cobbler done and frozen. The rolls are prepped and frozen, ready to be baked. We have the ingredients for our homemade bread stuffing sitting in the fridge ready to be diced, minced and chopped. The turkey-covered tablecloth and autumn-leaf candles are out on the table.

This weekend we're laying in beer and brushing the felt on the pool table. We're making sure our bar is stocked and the cable out in the game room is working. We're getting ready for THANKSGIVNG. That holiday that gets the short end of the stick.

After all the hullaballoo of Halloween, and the shove-down-your-throat of Christmas the day after, it's no wonder people tend to forget that Thanksgiving is more than just a big meal to keep you in turkey leftovers until Christmas.

Thanksgiving is the one day set aside for something we should do each and every day: Give thanks to whatever Gods or Goddesses or Fates you believe in for what you have.

I for one will be giving thanks for my husband, who is a trial sometimes, but reminds me that life isn't supposed to be easy, and things worth having are worth working on.

For my son, who is the light of my life, and whose "Hi Mama!" and running feet moments before he launches himself into my arms is the best salve for whatever crap rained down on me that day.

For my father, who is battling prostate cancer and winning.

For my mom, who continues to be my best friend, my sounding board for what I think are my life's problems.

For my family and friends, both in my real day-to-day life and in my cyber-life, for enriching my life, touching my heart, and warming my soul.

I will openly and warmly embrace Christmas, the festive spirit, the joyful music, the decorations and trappings.

Next weekend.

For now, I will count my blessings.

Lord knows, it'll take me until next Thursday to list them all :)

My Boston Show experience

Since I've got David on the brain, I wanted to share my David experience.

At the first Boston show (July 9, 2008) I had seats at the back of the stage, so had a great view of the Curly-Haired one. I managed to get David's attention at the start of the show, when they all come out on stage. The house lights were still up while the non-Jon players took the stage. David was looking around at the folks in the back b/c that's what he could see, and when I saw his eyes on our part of the arena, I waved at him, and blew him a kiss and yelled "HI!" He winked and smiled and nodded at me and mouthed "Hey". I was over the moon -- David has earned a spot in my heart just after Richie :)

On The Second Night (yes, I think of it all in capital letters, lmao) I took it a half-step further. I had MUCH better seats (thanks Jenn!)

The highlight of the year for me happened at that show. So, I had made a sign for David. One side said "HEY DAVID!" Other side said "SHOW ME JOKER" I held up the HEY side, and David saw it and gave me the nod and smile and mouthed "what?" and I flipped it over and he laughed and gave me the "really?" look and I nodded effusively and waved the sign back and forth and he laughed and flapped his shirt over his pec and I saw most of the tat!

Oh my sweet Hell he is fantastic.

Then I held up a sign that said "THANK YOU! LOVE, HATH" and he gave the "shit, she said thank you!" look, and that was it -- the whole rest of the night, he'd look over at me (I had on my cowboy hat and was the only one in my section with one so I was easy to find) and I'd get the "hey" nod and chin point, lots of smiles, a couple winks and kisses --- EEEEE!!!!! I kept flashing my "HEY DAVID" sign to get those dimples a-flashin.

One other funny thing, when Jon was doing the band intros, he did David's and I held up the "HEY DAVID" sign again, and Jon turned and said something because David laughed and shook his head and flapped his shirt AGAIN! Then Jon asked Renz if she was going to do that too (I heard it on my oot-bay eg-lay copy of that show lol). It was so cool! They SAW me and interacted! I don't know why that should be such a big deal to me, but it was.

In Central Park (yah, crazy Goddess went to NYC. By way of Jersey. Don't ask. Suffice it to say, I, hate the little bitch who lives in my GPS) I showed the sign AGAIN, and David saw it (we were pretty close to the stage, about 25 rows if we were in an arena) and he smiled, but shook his head. Damn. lol

February...

...you're my little Valentine

OK, so I have to go on a little here. So, if you know me, then you know David is a close second in my heart and my dreams. I never noticed just how thick his neck is, and how PROMINENT his throat column is. I mean, if you licked that, your tongue would certainly bump along happily.

I like the little thigh teaser under the keys as well.... damn, I'll bet a quarter bounces HIGH off of that bad boy.

Then there's the teaser of the Joker tat *swoon*. Don't get me started on his tat. He seriously has to do another photo shoot where he shows the whole deal. The pics I have are 'baby pics' which are good....alright damn GREAT.... but I'm a greedy Goddess, and want MORE!

Hmmm, maybe that's the NEXT sign I'll make and take to a concert: "SHOW ME JOKER AND HOLD STILL" lol Perhaps in Philly in February? We'll see.

About Last Night... The Awearness Book Launch Party at Kenneth Cole

Anyone familiar with the thought-provoking and at times controversial ad campaigns of Kenneth Cole knows that Kenneth Cole is more just a brand that makes nice leather shoes. Last night, Kenneth Cole hosted a party celebrating his new book, Awearness: Inspiring Stories About How to Make a Difference.

Featuring contributions by the likes of Lance Armstrong, Jon Bon Jovi, Mia Farrow, Robert Kennedy Jr., Martin Luther King III, Matisyahu and many others, it's a collection of 86 essays "by individuals who have been inspired to do their part to effect meaningful social change." Jam-packed and jumping, Kenneth's 42nd St. store was filled to the brim last night with a slew of altruistic celebs who dropped in.

PS: To use the link, you may have to log in to your Amazon account. Basically, you can read Jon's essay online. The essay is:

Jon Bon Jovi / Maria Cuomo Cole: On Rethinking Homelessness in America

And The Greatest Love Song Ever Is...

Not Bon Jovi's...

Bryan Adams' classic "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" has been crowned the greatest ballad ever. The tune beat Bon Jovi's "Always" into second place, while "I'll Always Love You" by Whitney Houston came third in the poll.

The survey's top five was rounded out by Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" and Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On."

The poll to find the greatest ever love songs was carried out by onepoll.com.

Sorry guys.... But you gotta admit, Bryan Adams' song is pretty freaking great.

Richie Goes To Hollywood

Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora is to write the film score for upcoming Hollywood action movie The Tournament.

The film stars Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction, Mission Impossible III) and Robert Carlyle (Trainspotting, The Beach).

As well as "scoring some movies and TV shows" as he put it, Sambora has also been working with Kid Rock and rapper TI. And don't forget the work he did with LLCoolJ earlier this year.

You can view the movie's trailer.

SO, keep an eye out for the soundtrack. I'd be interested to see what he scores.

Maybe he'd even play [on] some of the tracks himself. I frankly can't see him writing a score and his fine fingers not itching to jump in. Of course, if it's orchestral score, maybe he'd be "stuck" having to tickle the ivories instead of caressing the strings...

Or maybe he'll just play bossman on this one. Either way, it'll be an interesting listen.

Richie Sings Wanted

OK, so not only is he using my very favorite double-neck, but he sounds and looks fantastic.

Wanted (Les Paul Tribute)

RICHIE!

If you're trolling the 'net (or apparently your Google Alerts lol) there are fans out here who are DYING for another solo tour. We read the articles.... You said you had some solo work recorded already. We're ready for it, darlin'. Bring it on.

About Last Night...

Sigh... so sorry to have missed it

A star-powered, sold-out concert in honor of Les Paul, the original guitar hero, turned out to be a lot more exciting than any video game.

Slash of Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver, Bon Jovi's Richie Sambora, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and other musical luminaries were on hand Saturday night at Playhouse Square's State Theatre for a salute to Paul. The guest of honor forever changed the sound of popular music when he invented a solid-body electric guitar. It came into vogue in the 1950s, along with a guitar-driven style of music called rock 'n' roll.

Paul, 93, was also there for the show. It put an exclamation point on the 13th annual American Music Masters series, a weeklong Paul tribute presented by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Case Western Reserve University and Gibson Guitar Corp.

"Let's thank God for this -- and thank God for Les Paul," said Sambora, who serenaded us with Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" and dedicated his ballad "Great Hall of Fame" to the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers in the house. Besides Paul (who also pioneered multi-track recording), their ranks included Burton, Eddy, Gibbons, Kaye and the Ventures.

Paul, who still has a weekly gig at the Iridium club in New York City, capped the 3 1/2-hour extravaganza with a set of his own. He was greeted with a standing ovation from 3,000-plus concertgoers.

Perched on a riser, Paul expertly summoned clipped melody lines and bluesy licks from his guitar as he and his backing trio delivered a handful of jazz standards, including a transcendental "Over the Rainbow."

For the grand finale, the entire cast joined Paul for a blues free-for-all in the key of E. It was momentous. And cacophonous. And ultimately triumphant.

"This is a wonderful night for me," a visibly moved Paul said. "Thank you so much!"

The pleasure was all ours.
